Worship Conference
November 8-10, 2011
A special invitation to theAM from Rector Steve Breedlove:
What is the message of the Gospel that is hard-wired into our Anglican liturgy, and how do we communicate it clearly and powerfully? What are the means for spiritual transformation available through Anglican worship? How is Anglican worship particularly tailored to include, and minister to, creative artists? These and many other essential topics will be on the table at the upcoming conference entitled Anglican Worship: A Conversation on Liturgy, Formation, Mission & Art, November 8-10 at All Saints Church in Durham, NC. Join me, our church staff, Mark Galli, David Taylor, Dr. Lester Ruth, Dr. Sam Wells, Andy Piercy, and many others for this conference aimed at clergy, worship pastors and leaders, artists and those interested in ministering to artists.

Winter Conference 2012
Now Open: Winter Conference Registration!
Although Scripture is filled with examples of the presence and power of the Spirit operating in everything from the actual creation of our world (Genesis 1:2) to the transforming "new creation" of our personal lives (2 Cor. 3:18), the Holy Spirit has often been overlooked or ignored. At next year's Winter Conference in Houston, Texas, we will seek to correct this all too frequent omission. The theme for next year's conference will be "The Holy Spirit: Power for Mission."

Priest Collaborates on Small Group Curriculum for Younger Generations
Rather than a lecture, the Rev. Kenny Benge of St. John's in Franklin, Tennessee, believes 20 to 40 year olds will respond to a different kind of small group curriculum----one with a distinctly conversational format. That's why he helped Creative Trust Media create Convergence, a new DVD curriculum series hosted by Donald Miller that features interviews with well-known authors and theologians.

NEWS BRIEF
Six Deacons Ordained at All Saints Chapel Hill-Durham
On September 18, hundreds of friends and family gathered at All Saints Church in Chapel Hill-Durham, North Carolina, to celebrate the ordination of six new deacons in the Anglican Mission. Three hailed from All Saints Durham while others represented Christ Church in Washington, North Carolina; Church of the Apostles in Raleigh; and Holy Trinity in Raleigh. During the joyous celebration, Bishop Terrell Glenn laid hands on the men and women and blessed their new ministry. The Rev. Steve Breedlove of All Saints gave a charge from 2 Corinthians and Luke 17 to the new deacons. Eleven other clergy from six different churches participated in the service, followed by a light supper for all the guests.
"It was such an incredible experience ... such a beautiful time of worship," says Virginia McCray, one of All Saints' new deacons. "What an honor it was for me to be ordained in my home parish where I am loved and supported by so many."
Steve believes the new deacons stand ready and equipped to fulfill their calling.
"God's Spirit was powerfully present throughout the service," he says. "The church that is serving North Carolina received an infusion of dynamic gifts from the Lord."
