Soul in the City Houston

July 17-23, 2011

Soul in the City Houston is just around the corner! Mark your calendars now for July 17 - 23, 2011 and join in the camp/mission week of a lifetime.

This week-long event is for any 7th - 12th graders who are interested in meeting new friends, serving others in the name of Christ and growing closer to God. The camp will partner with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) for worksites each day and come together in the evenings for fellowship, praise and worship, and a message.

This year's theme "REVEAL," drawn from Luke 4:18-19, will consider how Jesus revealed who He was and what His mission is all about both for the world and each individual. Organizers believe that "God is ready to reveal something incredible to each and every participant this year."

The cost is $175/person.

MAY 16, 2011

Greetings!

"So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you." Ps. 63:2-3

May these words from today's lectionary reading inspire us to give the Lord thanks for all He is doing in our midst!

Blessings,

Steve Addison

Rich worship, Bible study, prayer and challenging presentations on  building momentum as a church planting movement marked the spring gathering of Anglican Mission Network Leaders.  The group of 14 Network Leaders and several other guests met Monday, May 2 - Thursday, May 5, at Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center outside Little Rock.  Steve Addison, author of Movements that Change the World, shared insights from his 20-year study of effective church movements around the world.

The Hands and Feet of Jesus Present
in Birmingham

homeless signThree quarters of a million Americans, both adults and children, have no place to call home. While homeless shelters for men and women are prevalent, families with children often have fewer choices when it comes to a hot meal and a place sleep.

Read about how members of St. Peter's Anglican in Birmingham, Alabama, are doing their part to be the hands and feet of Jesus to homeless families in their community.

Serendipitous Discipleship

Church is the normal setting for kids to learn about Scripture, its relevance for their lives and how to live it out ---- accredited Bible education as part of public school curriculum is not common. Surprisingly, hundreds of teenagers from three high schools in the Lowcountry of South Carolina received Bible instruction during their normal school day, and as a result many chose to become Christ followers.

Parishioners Use Creative Callings to
"Love Nashville"

praying handsHave you ever contemplated the question: If our church ceased to exist, would the community notice that we're gone? Last January, it provoked the Rev. Thomas McKenzie of Church of the Redeemer in Nashville, Tennessee, to enlist his church in an ongoing campaign to reach Music City with the love of Jesus Christ. "Love Nashville" is now in full swing with more than 25 new lay-led ministries.

New Church Planting Venture for
Missionary Bishop

 dallas bishop

Members of All Saints enjoy a Holy Spirit Retreat. (Bishop Jones far right)

After growing up a high-school football star in Texas, the Rt. Rev. Philip Jones never thought he'd return to the "Lone Star" state. But God had other ideas, evidenced by Jones' call to plant All Saints Dallas-a church plant now bringing fresh teaching on the Holy Spirit to Central Dallas.

Read about the joys and challenges the bishop and church planter experienced his first year.
