2010 Currents Everybody Has A Mission
DECEMBER 1, 2010
Greetings!

The season of Advent offers a dual opportunity for believers to both spiritually prepare for the celebration of the Incarnation and to anticipate Jesus' return in glory.  May we in the Anglican Mission enjoy a holy Advent, drawing close to the Lord and reaching out to those in need with His love and grace.

We would love to report on what's happening through your congregation! Send stories, photos or video links to
Shelly Miller.

Blessings,

2010 Cynthia's Signature

New Focus for Bishop Terrell Glenn

Terrell and Teresa GlennThe Rt. Rev. Terrell Glenn has announced he will step down as Rector of All Saints Church in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, in February of 2011, to focus solely on overseeing the 54 congregations that currently make up Apostles Mission Network. Apostles Mission is the largest network in theAM, both in numbers of churches and geographic spread. In this new season of ministry in his role as a missionary bishop in theAM, Bishop Glenn and wife Teresa (pictured) will concentrate on the needs of clergy and their spouses, as well as nurturing the missional growth taking place through church planting and discipleship in the Apostles Mission Network.

"All Saints Church has a remarkable past, but she also has an extremely bright future," notes Bishop Glenn. "Teresa and I are so very grateful to God for the gift of serving at All Saints."

Drumstick Dash

On Thanksgiving morning, while many were stuffing a turkey and preparing for the big family meal, 225 people from Church of the Holy Spirit in Roanoke, Virginia, participated in the Drumstick Dash to benefit the local Rescue Mission.

From Sudanese "Lost Boy" to Lay Pastor

Lost Boy Samuel Ater de MakuachSamuel Ater de Makuach (pictured center) is driven by a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ and has a heart for both his homeland and his adopted nation. One of the "Lost Boys of Sudan," Samuel's remarkable journey has taken him from Pamakeer, South Sudan to the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya to Lansing, Michigan, where he was recently installed as a lay pastor in theAM. In his new position, Samuel is working to establish a Sudanese ministry in Lansing as well as short-term ministry to Sudan.

Read more here about Samuel's transition from refugee evangelist to lay pastor with theAM.

Church of the Apostles 5k Run

5 K Relay for Clean Water in Rwanda

The forecast predicted clouds and rain, but on Saturday, November 13, most of the Rwanda 5K Relay Challenge runners in Raleigh, North Carolina, donned sun glasses. Gathering in Church of the Apostles' parking lot under clear blue skies and cool temperatures, they not only enjoyed a perfect fall day running through the North Hills East neighborhood, but each step also raised money for a health center serving 30,000 people in Gikomero, Rwanda.
