Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund
Bishop TJ Johnston is in Haiti this week to assist with aid efforts in the aftermath of the disastrous earthquake that devastated the country. He has taken medical supplies and is working with individuals on the ground to coordinate future relief teams.
The Johnston family has a 20 year history of ministry in Haiti, and Bishop Johnston urges theAM to pray diligently for the people of Haiti as they begin their long recovery process. "Please continue in prayer for Haiti that out of this destruction a new day would actually come upon a country and a people who have had and certainly have today - very little to hope for...." US Army: Experiencing Christ in Christmas
"Every year young men and women training to be soldiers in the United States Army are given the opportunity to go home for Christmas. Unfortunately, not all personnel make it home during the "Christmas Exodus". To help ease the pain, forty-three parishioners from Apostles Church in Columbia, South Carolina, participated in a Christmas service held at the Ft. Jackson Chapel. Soldiers from all across the country as well as Egypt, Guam, and Lebanon, experienced "Christ" in Christmas enjoying fellowship, food and prayer with Apostles' members.

Kansas Team Inspires Rwandan Youth
Responding to the call to "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth" (Ecclesiastes 12:1), over ninety young Rwandans committed their lives to Jesus last month at an annual youth camp in Cyangugu, Rwanda. New Rwandan Bishop
The Anglican House of Bishops in Rwanda unanimously elected the Rev. Dr. Laurent Mbanda to succeed Bishop John Rucyahana as Bishop of the Shyira Diocese in Musanze, Rwanda. He will be consecrated on March 28, 2010 and will assume responsibility for the diocese on November 14, 2010 - Bishop John's 65th birthday. Bishop-elect Mbanda was born in Rwanda, but grew up as a refugee in East Africa. He moved to the US where he earned graduate degrees, became an ordained minister and worked for Compassion International in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for many years.

Bishop Murphy Appoints New Canon
In the historic church,governance and polity are significant components as these contribute to the way we organize our life together. Bishop Chuck Murphy, in consultation with theAM's Council of Bishops, has appointed the Rev. Kevin Donlon to serve as Canon for Ecclesiastical Affairs. In this role, Kevin will continue to provide advice and counsel on matters of church order, particularly about the complexities of canon law and ecclesiological principles. In addition, Kevin will assist in promoting a greater understanding of the norms of the Church in general and Anglicanism in particular with a focus on how the Province of Rwanda relates to the wider church.
