Church Planting Update

AIM Church Planting

Hope Mission Church,
an emerging church plant partnered with AIM Church Planting, expects to launch public worship in south Austin, Texas, on Sunday September 20.  Under the leadership of the Rev. Perry Koon, Hope Mission is laying a solid foundation for the new congregation with a large, vibrant Alpha course. Perry will be ordained to the priesthood on June 14 and has created a working model of a simple, reproducible way to plant a church.

"Perry and his team's contribution will be incredibly valuable to future waves of church planters in Texas," notes the Rev. Canon Ron McCrary, Executive Director of AIM Church Planting. "As it grows, Hope Mission will become a church to visit, observe, experience and replicate.

Christ Church Plano and AIM Church Planting also recently announced a new work in the Dallas, Texas area. The Rev. Jed Roseberry and wife Stacy will be planting a new church targeting young adults in the Addison/North Dallas area. During the month of June, Jed will assemble a launch team and hold some informational meetings and worship gatherings.

"Christ Church has taught me over the years what it takes to build a passionate, Christ-centered, Biblically orthodox, mission-hearted church body that can be mobilized to change the lives of others around them," Jed explains. "This church plant is an opportunity to extend the values that have shaped Christ Church to reach out and meet a need in the Dallas area."

Anglican School for Church Planters
Building on their first School last summer and incorporating what leaders learned from last year's participants, AIM Church Planting will offer the second Anglican School for Church Planters, June 15-29, at Christ Church Plano. See info in the right column for more details or visit the AIM website.

Parenting by the Book
Parenting by the Book
Are you searching for a no-nonsense, traditional approach to raising children that uses the Bible as its foundation? Parenting expert and family psychologist, John Rosemond, has been a source of help to parents for 35 years. His nationally-syndicated column appears in over 200 newspapers, and he has authored twelve parenting classics, including Parenting by the Book. As both a member of Grace Anglican in Gastonia, North Carolina, and one of America's most in-demand speakers on parenting and family issues, Rosemond is making himself available to Anglican Mission churches all over the country.

Last month, Church of the Good Shepherd in Davidson, North Carolina, hosted a round table discussion event with Rosemond as guest speaker, drawing over two hundred visitors.

"People were coming out of the woodwork to express their gratitude for the impact he has made upon their families," exclaims Good Shepherd's Lead Pastor, Kyle Wallace. "I was amazed at the turn-out from his name recognition alone."

Parenting by the BookOrganized by Senior Warden Jeff Cardwell, the church creatively promoted the event in a variety of ways including a blurb in a local Ben and Jerry's e-newsletter and interview with Rosemond on a local talk radio show. Church members also sold tickets in their neighborhoods and spheres of influence.

"John's only requirement from us is that we cover his travel expenses, sell tickets for the event and give the proceeds to a not-for-profit," reports Wallace. "Those requirements ended up being a blessing for us because of the new partnerships that were created with people and organizations in the community."

Come to the Water Retreat Participants Encounter Jesus

Ariel/ A Ministry of Proclamation
, opened the Come to the Water retreat on Thursday, April 30 at All Saints in Pawley's Island, South Carolina, celebrating years of fruitful ministry in the place where foundations for the ministry were laid ten years ago. A crowd of more than 250 people representing 12 states gathered to kick off the retreat and hear Bishop Thad Barnum who spoke with great passion from Psalm 42:1-11 and John 4, encouraging listeners to come to church with an expectation to encounter Jesus.

On Friday and Saturday, participants gathered at Christ Church in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, where plenary speakers the Rev. David Bryan, Bishop Terrell Glenn, Mrs. Beth Sprinkle and Bishop Thad Barnum led sessions entitled, "Thirst for Jesus", "Thirst for Truth", "Thirst for New Life", "Thirst for Home" and "Thirst for Service".
Ariel Retreat

The BarnumsWhat began as four small groups of women discipled by the Rev. Erilynne Barnum, wife of Bishop Barnum, in homes scattered throughout Pawley's Island ten years ago, has grown into a ministry reaching beyond the United States, extending to seven countries and touching thousands of lives.

John Rosemond

"I am more than willing, as a part of my overall ministry to parents, to travel to and speak at any Anglican Mission congregation in America.  I do not accept speaking fees from Anglican Mission churches, but ask only that the host church reimburse my travel expenses, open the event to the community at large and promote the event effectively.  All interested churches can email me using the subject line: 'Interested Anglicans'."
