Trunk or Treat Car Show!

To kick-off the Halloween weekend, the Appalachian Region Antique Automobile Club of American is scheduling an event for the entire family.  Dr. John Rice, president, is announcing that the car club and Celebrate Bristol will have a Truck or Treat Car Show in the parking lot of the TriSummit Bank in downtown Bristol on Friday October 30th. 
This is the final event of months of Friday night gatherings of antique car and truck buffs at the "Cruise to the Border Cruise-in" sponsored by the AACA.  This has become a very popular mainstay every weekend in downtown Bristol.  
 
The Trunk or Treat Car Show will be held in the TriSummit Bank parking lot, on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and State Street on October 30th from 6pm to 9pm.  There will be prizes for: Best Costume, Best Costumed Car, plus door prizes, trophies and a 50/50 drawing.  Bring the kids and grand kids; enjoy the classic cars, costumed characters and great candy.  There will be treats in every trunk for all ages.  This is a safe event for children and will be the highlight of your weekend!

Pumpkin Palooza!
Pumpkin Decorating, Costume Contest & Downtown Trick or Treat (participating merchants)
DATE: Saturday,October 31st
TIME: 9:00 - 11:00 am
LOCATION: Downtown Center - Farmer's Market area
MORE: Free event and everyone is welcome!
Pumpkin Polooza is an annual event held in conjunction with the Farmer's Market. Each child receives a pumpkin to decorate, a bag of treats to take home and there is a costume contest. Pumpkin Polooza starts at 9:00 am and is a FREE event!
 
Bristol Grocery Co. will also be sponsoring a Nichole Goodnight Photography to take a picture for a canned good or $5 donation. All proceeds will benefit the Bristol Emergency Food Pantry.
 
After kids decorate their pumpkin, they can enjoy Trick or Treating in Historic Downtown Bristol, several merchants participating and the treats are yummy. Don't miss this fun family morning! If you have questions, please call 423-573-2200.

Local Authors to Sign Ghost-Related Books and Tell Tales at Bristol Farmers Market

Local authors V.N. "Bud" Phillips and Joe Tennis are signing copies of their ghost-related books and also sharing a few ghost tales on Halloween morning at the Bristol Farmer's Market on Saturday, Oct. 31, 9-11 a.m.
 
Phillips, the official Bristol historian, is signing copies of his books, including "Pioneers In Paradise," which features 99 pages of Bristol-related ghost tales. Phillips's other books include "A Good Place to Live," "Forgive Me, Father, For I Have Grinned," "Book of Kings" and "Between the States."
 
Tennis, also of Bristol, Va., is the author of "The Marble and Other Ghost Tales of Tennessee and Virginia," which features local ghost tales for kids age 7 and up. Tennis's other books include "Sullivan County, Tennessee," a pictorial history; and "Beach to Bluegrass,'' a Virginia book that also features ghost stories.
 
The Bristol Farmers Market is located at the Downtown Center, near the Birthplace of Country Music Mural, just off State Street. Books will be available for purchase. For more information on the annual "Author's Day" event, call (423) 764-4171.
