On October 16 and 17th, 2009, the Southern Railway Historical Association and the Norfolk
& Western Historical Society are sponsoring a multi-group meeting about railroads and
modeling, both in the past and present, at the renovated Train Station in Bristol Virginia and
we want all our friends to join us. The Watauga Valley Chapter NRHS, the Carolina
Clinchfield Chapter NRHS, the Smokey Mountain Division NMRA, and the Mt. Empire Model
Railroad Club at East Tennessee State University will be represented there and we are inviting their members to join us too.

On Friday October 16th, we are getting a chance to photograph the Watauga Valley Chapter's
passenger equipment at their yard in Jonesboro and then journey to ETSU to enjoy a tour of
the George L. Carter Museum and the multiple model railroad layouts the Mt. Empire Club
operates every weekend. Then on Saturday, the doors at the station will open at 8:00am for
registration and set-up. At 9:00am, we will start a day of clinics that will include studies of
digital photography, a diesel air horn demonstration, release of the newest SRHA publication
on Southern Railway 50ft. Boxcars, and a live demonstration and introduction to the Advanced Train Control System Monitor (ATCS). We will also have modeling clinics that will include diesel DCC installations, N&W and Southern covered hoppers, Prototype Modeling tips and tricks, modeling a Southern P2K GP30, studying and modeling Abingdon, Virginia, and Tom Harris of Wytheville, VA will talk about his Lakeside Lines Scale Railroad.

Registration for all this is just $15.00 per person. We will share a love of railroads with
presentations being given by members of at least five different groups. Including the talks by Tom Harris and Bob Hundman, we have a great opportunity for sharing information from nine different experts. Please don't miss this opportunity for LAYING RAILS IN BRISTOL.
