Birthplace of Country Music Alliance to Dedicate Historic Marker on Site of 1927 Bristol Sessions |
On Friday, July 24 at 11:30 AM, the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance will hold a press conference at 410 State Street, Bristol TN to dedicate a state historic marker on the site of the 1927 Bristol Sessions. Members of the local Tennessee legislative delegation and other special guests will be present during the ceremony which will be held on the eve of the 82 anniversary of the 1927 Bristol Sessions. Those sessions, which were held from July 25 - August 5, 1927, have been considered by music historians the "big bang" of the commercial country music industry.
The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to telling the story of the living musical heritage of the Appalachian mountains and the cultural traditions that sustain it. The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance is funded in part by grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Tennessee Arts Commission.
