Did You Know? Thanksgiving Edition

The average weight of the Thanksgiving Turkey is 15 pounds - with the largest Turkey weighing in at 86 pounds!

  88% of Americans
surveyed by the National Turkey Federation eat turkey at Thanksgiving.

Forty-five million turkeys are eaten each Thanksgiving.

A domesticated male turkey can reach a weight of 30 pounds within 18 weeks after hatching.

Since 1947, the National Turkey Federation has presented a live turkey and two dressed turkeys to the President. The President does not eat the live turkey. He "pardons" it and allows it to live out its days on a historical farm.

Turkey has more protein than chicken or beef.

  Happy November!

As you are cleaning up all the pumpkin guts and stringy cobwebs in preparation for lights and tinsel, keep something in mind. Many of us have had life changing events this year, and so have our employees. This is the perfect time to ask your employees to review their personnel records to insure they have updated all their personal information.  Suggest they review their W-4's (new babies, getting married, hopefully not divorced can change their IRS exemptions), emergency contact information and beneficiary information  It is also a perfect time for you to review your employment law posters and policies.

We understand that your time is limited this time of year, so we have dedicated this month's newsletter to providing you the links (bottom of this page) to all the new and updated laws and information. One stop shopping - if only everything else were so easy!

Our Featured Business in this edition of the R4E Newsletter is near and dear to our hearts, and we have a special holiday request. Look below for more details.

Have a wonderful and safe holiday season. Please feel free to call or email with all your questions, we are here to help!

Sincerely,

Sandy, Rick
and everyone at

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico

As many of you know, BBBS-CNM is a favorite here at Resources for Excellence. This year, at a time when so many great organizations are facing cutbacks and financial shortfalls, BBBS-CNM has found a way to raise these much needed funds - and we don't have to do anything but our regular holiday shopping!!

This year as you pick out gifts for all your loved ones, make every gift count. Taking a different approach to fundraising this year, more than 1,300 top stores including Amazon, Toys R Us, Best Buy, Apple, Gap and many more will donate a percentage of virtually every sale to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico - you just have to tell them!

To do this, go to GoodShop.com, designate this great organization as the cause you support, then click over to your favorite store online. You pay nothing extra, and you may even save money as GoodShop lists thousands of money-saving coupons and free shipping offers. You can also add a special Big Brothers... tool bar (http://www.goodsearch.com/toolbar) that will count your purchases whenever you shop online!

There really is no easier way to help support this great organization this holiday season! We hope you can help by participating in this program, as well as sharing it with your friends, family and colleagues!

Happy Shopping!
Sandy & Rick
