The Texas Public Health Association is their 88th Annual Education Conference on March 21-23, 2012. The theme for this years conference is "Pitching Public Health: A Home Run for ALL".

Research Appreciation Day- RAD
|
Research Appreciation Day (RAD) is Friday, April 13, 2012!! RAD is "an institutional tradition encompassing medicine, public health and basic science. The program provides an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to share their research efforts with the campus community and the public. The program encourages the development of joint research projects and increases the community's awareness of the outstanding quality and range of research conducted at UNT Health Science Center."
This year's RAD keynote speaker is Dr. Elizabeth J. Protas, PT, PhD, FACSM, FAPTA. Dr. Protas is the current Dean of the School of Health Professions, the George T. Bryan Distinguished Professor, and a Senior Fellow of the Sealy Center on Aging. Her research and clinical interests focus on exercise, aging and physiological responses to exercise of individuals with chronic disabilities, particularly individuals who have had a stroke or Parkinson's disease. The RAD website is up and will begin accepting abstracts Monday, February 6, 2012. The deadline to submit abstracts is Monday, March 5, 2012 at 5:00 PM. Please visit the RAD website for more information regarding all RAD details and submitting abstracts.
Student volunteers (not participating in RAD or submitting abstracts) are needed to help SPH facilitate this event. Volunteers will be needed all day and professional dress is required. If you are interested please contact Misty Smethers at [email protected].

2012-2013 Financial Aid Scholarship

The 2012-2013 General Scholarship Application is now available
Deadline: March 5, 2012
This one application will be used for all university scholarships awarded by the UNTHSC Scholarship Committee.
Please gather all information pertaining to your academic achievements, student organization involvement and community service/volunteer work & hours-----you will need these to complete the application.
The application is located on the student portal:
1. my.hsc.unt.edu
2. Go to your program tab (TCOM, DPT, etc...)
3. HSC-Financial Aid box
4. "Scholarship Application" (there is a red star next to the application for easier identification).
PLEASE ALLOW AMPLE TIME TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION, THERE IS NO SAVE OPTION.
Once you click "Submit" you will receive a confirmation on the screen stating you have submitted the application.
If additional documentation is required for a specific scholarship, you will be notified via a checklist item on your To Do List in your MyHSC student portal a week after you have submitted your application. Deadline to have any and all supporting documentation submitted to the Financial Aid Office is March 9, 2012. Late submissions WILL NOT be accepted!
Please remember all scholarship award decisions are predicated on available funding.

Katie Memorial Foundation
Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship & Leadership Grants
The Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship supports outstanding work in the field of international public health by providing a one-time scholarship towards a field work project proposed by a qualifying graduate student. The annual Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship (KEMS) awards up to $3,000 toward a graduate student's fieldwork project. KEMS applications are due on February 15 of every year.
Through KMF Leadership Grants, KMF partners with universities, colleges, and institutions to support student leaders in the international field of public health, as they complete their education, attend field events and conferences, and pursue individual projects. One-time awards are up to $500.00. Applications for the KMF Leadership Grants are accepted on a rolling basis.
