Attention all upcoming fall 2011, spring 2012, and summer 2012 graduates:

 

The School of Public Health is hosting our first pre-commencement and awards ceremony. This ceremony is a special recognition ceremony where the School of Public Health faculty and administration recognize the accomplishments of our graduates. It will replace the graduate banquet. Please note that you will now be hooded at this event and not at commencement.  

 

Date: May 19, 2012 (same day as commencement)

 

Time: 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

 

Location: Fort Worth Science & History Museum

 

Students/Faculty/Staff: Please arrive at 8:00 a.m.


Parking: You may park at the University of North Texas Health Science Center and walk to the Fort Worth Science & History Museum or park in the lot near the Science and History Museum.

 

Additional information will be provided at a later date.

For the Semester and School Year
Spring 2012 Registration

  

Regular registration for SPH classes for the Spring 2012 semester ends December 4, 2011.  Late registration begins December 5, 2011 and will end January 4, 2011.

 
Financial Aid Update!!!

Beginning Spring 2012, the Cost of Attendance amounts for students' tuition, fees, books and supplies must reflect enrollment status (full or half-time).  SPH students must enroll in at least 9 semester credit hours to receive a full-time budget.  Students who are enrolled in 5-8 semester credit hours will receive a half-time budget.

 

The Spring disbursement date for SPH is January 2, 2012. If you are not enrolled in at least 9 semester credit hours as of January 2, 2012 your budget will be adjusted and your loans may be reduced. If your enrollment status changes after January 2, 2012, your budget will be adjusted on the 12th class date.

Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship & Leadership Grants 
 
The Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship supports outstanding work in the field of international public health by providing a one-time scholarship towards a field work project proposed by a qualifying graduate student. The annual Katie Evans Memorial Scholarship (KEMS) awards up to $3,000 toward a graduate student's fieldwork project.  KEMS applications are due on February 15 of every year. 
 
Through KMF Leadership Grants, KMF partners with universities, colleges, and institutions to support student leaders in the international field of public health, as they complete their education, attend field events and conferences, and pursue individual projects. One-time awards are up to $500.00. Applications for the KMF Leadership Grants are accepted on a rolling basis.

SOPHE 21st Century Student Scholarship to attend the Health Education Advocacy Summit

  • Do you want to learn more about policy advocacy and creating change?
  • Do you want to develop or build your advocacy skills and share your knowledge with legislators?  

If this sounds like you, then apply today to take advantage of SOPHE's 21st Century Student Scholarship for Conference Support.

Background: Each year the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) provides conference support to full-time undergraduate and graduate level students to attend the SOPHE Health Education Advocacy Summit. Conference support can include any combination of registration fee to the conference and any real and reasonable travel expenses incurred, as per federal per diem, and lodging at the official conference hotel or a substitute hotel, not to exceed the cost of the assigned conference hotel. SOPHE also encourages and allows conference support funds to be used for supplemental SOPHE chapter membership.  Total support cannot exceed $500 and will be reimbursed upon submission of receipts and the required travel reimbursement form following the event.

Campus Bible Study

We are organizing a new Bible study group on campus and would like to invite you to join!

 

This group is open to all students, faculty and staff.

 

Currently we meet on Friday's from 4:00 pm-5:00 pm but are open to suggestions.

 

In order to become a registered student organization and to be affiliated with Intervarsity Campus Fellowship, we need at least 10 members.

 

We are studying the book of 1 Peter, chapter 2 this Friday, December 2 and welcome all who are interested to join us.
