This class can give you skills in playing music that can soothe the heart & soul and inspire your personal creativity. Playing the flute can help to make you aware of your breathing and assist in meditation.   

Ian will teach you finger placement, various ways to use your breath, and will work with you to find your personal style and feeling.  He will also show you tips and tricks that he has learned over the many years that he has been working with it's medicine.

CREATE your own Animal Shield!!

Each of the animals bring a special kind of love and medicine. Meeting your power animal is truly a transformational experience. Once you discover your power animal, you will have the most extraordinary companion. Whether you are on a healing path or facing challenges and or changes, your power animal can guide and help you gain insights in your life. Knowing your power animal will deepen your awareness and well being on both a physical and spiritual level.     

This workshop focuses on connecting with the instinctive wisdom of our animal totems. Participants will be guided on a shamanic sound journey to meet and connect their power animal. We will then create a power animal shield. In doing so, we establish our relationship with our totem and are open to receiving their help.

  The children of the new millennium are here with abundant and amazing gifts.  When not embraced by their peers and society at-large, the journey of both the child and their family can be scary, isolating and confusing.  Come connect with other parents and kids, meet like-minded friends, find answers and support for your phenomenal child, and realize you are not alone.  We will hold a monthly group meeting with a topic of discussion with activities for both parents and children (of all ages).

The beat of the drum is the heartbeat of Mother Earth, and connects us to our own heart.

Making a drum is really a transformational journey into our hearts.   

The drum is a part of native heritage from tribal cultures all over the world. This single sided shaman drum is a traditional native drum crafted using a wooden hoop or frame and a stretched rawhide head and lacing. Covered on only one side, the back is laced to form the symbol of a medicine wheel with the four cardinal directions that also serve as a hand hold. Great for drumming circles and meditation.  

In this workshop you will be supplied everything you need to create your own frame drum and accompanying beater. While you are making your creations Valarie and Ian will teach you the care and feeding of your drum, as well as how to use them in healing and cleansing ceremonies. We will sing songs and tell stories throughout the two days.

On Friday evening we will begin with a Drum Journey to connect to the Heartbeat of the Drum, and soak our individual hides.  Saturday morning we will join together again and start the process of creating our drums and beaters.  After creating the drum, we'll celebrate its birth with a special ceremony.  Birthing a drum is an intense process, one not easily forgotten.The drum face can later be painted with your Animal Totem or designs. You can also personalize the drum with beads and feathers to strengthen the connection with your drum.  

$165 Registration includes all materials for a 14" diameter drum and beater.  All other materials will be provided and are included in the price of the workshop. If you have some special beads or feathers which you'd like to decorate your drum you may also bring them.
