Baby "Sydney"

"Sydney" is Zooniversity's
newest animal ambassador -- a sweet and fuzzy Bennett's Wallaby joey. We are providing foster care for her until she is big enough to be returned to her mob. These Australian "macropods" (a word which means "big feet") are known as mini-kangaroos and measure a petite 3-4' tall as adults. They are herbivorous and eat mainly hay, grass, and browse. Their favorite past-times? Resting in the sun, eating, grooming, eating some more, and of course, hopping up to 20-30 miles per hour. These creatures are actually designed by nature to burn fewer calories going fast, than going slow! Sydney is almost 8 months old now -- she is still a pouch baby and is bottle-fed every 4 hours around-the-clock. She will be meeting our audiences until sometime this March, when she should be officially a big girl and will be too big to hop around our offices! Track her progress in our new Blog. |

In Lieu of Presents, Bring Dog Food
There's a new trend among some of our animal-loving birthday kids -- they're giving up their presents and asking guests to instead bring dog and cat food donations or needed supplies for a local no-kill animal shelter. The birthday child gets the joy of hand-delivering the donations to a needy shelter, like Operation Kindness. A great way to teach the joy of giving, instead of getting. |
