Greetings!
I want to thank everyone who participated in and came out to support Mother's Day Radio and the Women of Color Media Justice Initiative at our "Ladies in White" Benefit Concert! I just want to say that if you missed this concert, you missed something MAGICAL and AMAZING! And if you were there for the Mother's Day "Ladies in White" Benefit Concert, you know exactly what I am talking about!
For me, quite simply, it was the manifestation of a dream, a vision, of incredibly talented artists coming together to rock the stage and honor the pure and beautiful essence of womanhood. The intangible element was this immense, high vibration spirit of LOVE that permeated the whole venue! People have been sharing with me all week long that they are still "floating," "buzzing" and "flying high" from last Sunday's concert. And I say, "thank you." It is everyone's energy and input that made this an amazing event.
But, don't let me do all the telling. Below are just a few of the many responses that we have received from attendees and artists alike. And enjoy the pictures, as well! To answer the many requests--yes, yes, ya'll, we're going to do it again!
In service,
Shaunelle

"I have had many life-changing moments in my life that I will never ever forget, and this is one of them."

"[Iyeoka] brought me to tears!" ~Novena Carmel
"I can't even tell you what happened to me when [Iyeoka] took the stage because I still don't know!" ~Michelle
"I'm STILL picking myself up off da flo!" ~Nailah
"That night at Ladies
in White, my soul got jump started on the first act to take the stage,
with the most earth shaking spoken word message,
my heart ever received. I can't recall the last time a poet really
turned me inside out and upside down, exposing my Love, my pain, my
Light, and all The Truth that I really am, like IYEOKA OKOAWO did.
That was only the beginning." ~Sankofa

"Nailiah and her band were amazing! I enjoyed this experience more than
words can say and am still infused with energy of the room that day.
Thank you Nailiah, Joshua and Shaunelle. Life is Good." ~M.Hill
"The way [Erica Woods] moved was like WOW!" ~M. Hill

Even our artists were moved...
"Women in White and Mother's Day
Radio were the best event that I've had the pleasure of being a part of
in some time. Soul deep feminine vibrations and just plain old good
folks made it a day I won't soon forget. It's not often that an artist
can get such a hefty dose of inspiration in one night. Shout outs to
all the sistas...Iyeoka, Nailah Porter, Gina Rene, Kelley Nicole, Sonja Marie, and Novena Carmel.... let's keep shining; the world needs
us!" ~Jimetta Rose

"Angels in White"
Reflections from Sankofa...
"Every singer that hit the stage from the classic sultry jazzy blues of NAILAH PORTER,
to the neo soul real to the bone Love anthems of JIMETTA ROSE
from the sweet and sexy sound of KELLEY
NICOLE
to the Love revolutionary B-girl flow of GINA RENE
from the wickedly soulful rhythm and rhyme of SONJA MARIE
to the grand finale sassy funk energetic explosion of NOVENA CARMEL
they all heard the heart piercing call from the poet and songstress
IYEOKA OKOAWO to "just bring it!!!" And OMG did they bring it!!
I am forever blessed, transformed, and baptized in The Holy Spirit,
as a result of the Light those angels in white shined on me and all of
us in attendance that night.
What more can I say? I'm getting chills
just thinking about all the Love and beauty we shared in that space.
Can we do it again next month?"
