Washington DC, May 12th, 2010 - Following the announcement of the first ever Congressional Apparel Manufacturing and Fashion Business Caucus, the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce (GWFCC) along with Fashion Washington, DC50 home of the CW and Yelp DC present the first annual State of Style Awards and Advocacy Day, hosted by WUSA9's Angie Goff and Politico's Kiki Ryan, on Thursday & Friday, May 20 - 21, 2010.

 

Peruvian American Evelyn Brooks, a second generation jewelry designer who has created unique designs in jewelry mixing modern design and Peruvian culture for men & women, has been awarded with the Fashion Chamber Choice Award by the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce.

Brooks, the founder of Evelyn Brooks Designs, works with precious metals, natural gemstones and seeds from the Amazon such as the Huayruro, a Peruvian symbol of good luck, happiness and fertility.

 

"I am much honored to be recognized by the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce," and from been selected among all members said Brooks. "I am a very passionate young entrepreneur and I look forward to creating more innovative modern designs that pay tribute to my native country and heritage."

Evelyn Brooks will be honored at the State of Style Awards Luncheon on the Hill (SH-902 Hart Senate Building, 2nd and C St. NE Washington DC. 20510 on Thursday, May 20th  ( 12n-2pm)  hosted by Angie Goff of WUSA9 and Kiki Ryan of Politico. 

 

The annual State of Style awards reception and advocacy day brings together the efforts of major national trade organizations, non-profits, industry veterans and designers involved in the development and preservation of the American fashion industry.
