Greetings!

"Hi!"

CRUNCH TIME FOR THE ISB.  Things have been busy, busy, busy at Upton Bass and the varnish is still drying on a few of our showcase basses.  The "theme" of this years showing at the ISB is simply to SMASH any preconceived ideas you may have about what an Upton Bass is.  The variety of basses we are bringing are very different from each other!  If you can dream it, we can build it!

In the world of the double bass, the following links went "viral" this week.

So, without further ado, I bring you some weekend double bass goodness!

And remember...if you have ANY links, news, videos, etc. you want to share (really...please...share!), eMail it to me at eroy@uptonbass.com and I'll be sure to share it.  Oh...and if you just want to say "Hi" you can do that too!

Have a nice weekend!

Abigail Washburn Bass Disaster

YouTube

May 5th at the Orange Peel in Asheville NC. Abigail Washburn and surprise guest Bela Fleck enjoy an amazing unplugged Bass solo by Jon Estes. Then something goes terribly wrong. Luckily, Chris Wood of "the Wood Brothers" was backstage, offered his instrument, and he came back out and finished his solo! For a young musician, this will be a night he never forgets.

Virtual Upright Bassist

Hey everyone!

Lucky me, my dad in law is a luthier who helped me build my own upright.

When I discovered flash programming some years ago, first thing I made was "

the virtual upright bassist" where you can play my Bass with your computers keyboard.

Its no serious musical tool, but I thought some might enjoy on a lazy Sunday.
