This was a good week for Jazz...and a good week for the double bass! Esperanza Spalding was nominated for a Grammy as Best New Artist. This marked the first time a Jazz musician was nominated in a category historically dominated by pop musicians. And while most of the world was ready for Justin Bieber or Drake to take the award...Esperanza won!
Esperanza's youth, fashion and most importantly musicianship will shine new light on both Jazz and the Double Bass. It's a heavy torch to carry...but I think Esperanza is ready for it! Congratulations Esperanza!
