I get the opportunity to see a lot of amazing bassists. I love the private concerts I get almost weekly as people come into our showrooms to try instruments out. It's inspiring as an instrument maker to see up close how intimate and personal our instrument is.
One thing I see more and more is amazing women playing the double bass! Let's face it...it's a heavily male dominated instrument...and seeing some femininity is a welcome sight.
Young women have some good role models who are blazing the trails...and I hope you enjoy the few that I have selected. I know there are countless others...But Spalding, Korb, Raines and Parrott have been getting some very good press and I feel really representing our beloved instrument quite well...and I think they will have a big part in shaping the future of the bass.
So...without further ado, I bring you some Friday night double bass goodness!
