ASPIRA Haugan Middle School Highlights


AfriCaribe & Haugan unite to support Haiti!
The evening of February 10 will go down in history as the day that two caring groups got together in a humanitarian effort to support the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. The group Afri Caribe brought their performance to our school and delighted many families who came out to support the cause.   Together we raised $250! (see pictures below)

The Campaign "Haugan Supports Haiti" is in full swing here at ASPIRA Haugan
 Our school community has committed to extending a helping hand to the victims of the terrible earthquake that nearly destroyed that country. We have raised a total of $2,461.62 which ASPIRA Inc. of IL. will match dollar for dollar. After the match our donation total will be $4,923.24! (see pictures below)

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Committee hosts a great Valentine's Day Party!
The party's objective was to reward all those students who followed the school's rules and did not receive misconduct reports from January 4th to February 19th.  A grand total of 414 students had a grand time during the event dancing to popular music! (see pictures below)

Haugan Celebrates Student Achievement!
Students were recognized for their academic efforts during the first semester. Many students received medals and certificates for President's Honor Roll (4.0-3.8), Principal's Honor Roll (3.79-3.0), Perfect Attendance, and Science Fair Achievement. Parents attended to witness their children being honored with the awards. Mr. Fournier and the Haugan Choir put on a show for all to see and enjoy! (see pictures below)

Haugan Teachers go the extra mile to acquire classroom resources!
This month Mrs. Selena and Mrs. Sanja received a grant for an "all expense-paid" field trip to the Holocaust Museum worth $900 and Mr. Kara received a set of 35 TI-30XS calculators worth $535!  These teachers go above and beyond the call of duty and we thank them. extra mile
