ASPIRA Mirta Ramirez Computer Science Charter School
AMRCS Hosts LifeSource Blood DriveOn October 26, 2009 ASPIRA Mirta Ramirez High School participated in a blood drive through LifeSource to assist area patients in need of blood products. Our school is very proud of all the seniors who stepped up to the plate to make this blood drive an absolute success! They should feel so proud of this accomplishment!! A total of 70 people were present to donate. This resulted in 54 pints of blood collected! Since one blood donation can save the lives of up to 3 individuals, the units collected at this drive will save 162 lives! AMAZING!!!!! All who generously volunteered to donate their time and blood at this drive should know that their efforts will help save cancer patients, critically ill newborns, severely burned patients, accident victims and many more who have illnesses requiring blood products. 100% of the blood collected will go to hospitals and trauma units in Chicago.
LifeSource will present an award of $250.00 for the school's dedication to saving 225 lives during the 2008 school year! ASPIRA Mirta Ramirez will have three other blood drives this school year to continue to give the gift of life!
