ASPIRA Haugan Middle School Hosts Educators from
Kyrgyzstan
Mr. Jose Rodriguez being awarded a typical hat from Kyrgyzstan.
A delegation of educators from the country of Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia)
made a visit to ASPIRA Haugan Middle School on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, to
learn about Charter Schools in America but in particular, about ASPIRA Inc. of
Illinois Charter School campuses. Mr. Jose Rodriguez (President/CEO of ASPIRA
Inc. of Illinois), explained the history of ASPIRA and the vision of each of
its campuses. Iris Taylor, (Chief Instructional Officer of ASPIRA Inc. of
Illinois), gave them an overview of the curriculum and vision for the future.
The Delegation visited all of ASPIRA Haugan's classrooms and observed our
teachers and students in learning action! (See picture above). Other News From ASPIRA

Grade Orientation Night: The 8th grade parents attended the 8th
grade orientation night on Thursday, September 10 to learn about
graduation requirements, high school application process, school's
policies, and to hear about the exciting trip available to all 8th graders
to go to Washington D.C. in April 2010! Parents welcome this exciting
possibility! They also had an opportunity to meet ASPIRA's CEO and CIO:
Jose Rodriguez and Iris Taylor. (See picture below).

Grade Orientation Night: The 7th grade parents attended the 7th
grade orientation night on Thursday, September 17 to learn about the
importance of this year's academic performance as it relates to the high
school application process, school's policies, and to hear about the
opportunity the students will have this year to go to Springfield!
They also had an opportunity to meet ASPIRA's CEO and CIO: Jose Rodriguez
and Iris Taylor. (See picture below).

Haugan Students Rewarded for Punctuality! ASPIRA Haugan
Middle School is implementing PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention
Supports) to encourage students to follow the school rules and get
rewarded for doing so. September's focus was punctuality. As a
reward for being punctual to school every day, 342 students were allowed
to attend school without uniform on Friday, October 2, 2009! (See picture below).
