We are proud to announce that United Way of Greenville County YPs have installed the first Born Learning Trail in Cleveland Park. Working in collaboration with the City of Greenville and United Way's School Readiness Council, YPs officially opened the trail (located near the Greenville Zoo) with a special ceremony on April 14.
The trail is an interactive and fun tool designed to help parents, caregivers and communities support early learning. As you walk along the trail, you encounter nine fun games designed to boost the language and literacy skills of young children -- as well as encourage families to take an active role in their child's early learning. No special tools are needed. It's free. It's researched-based. And it's fun.

YPs gathered at the home of Caroline and Rick Schroder on April 8 for the annual Be a Bunny event. In another example of YPs extending their philanthropy, guests brought Easter baskets to donate to United Way's Be a Bunny community outreach project. We collected 80 baskets at the event, which were then handed out to children prior to the Easter holiday.
...because you don't want to miss our annual Palmetto Society Celebration, set for Sunday, May 22, at the Upcountry History Museum.
If you have not yet reserved your spot, you may do so now via e-mail.
The RSVP deadline is May 13.

Mentor of the Year
A mentoring relationship is an important part of professional and personal development. YP members will be given the opportunity to recognize the importance of their mentors by nominating them for the YP Mentor of the Year Award to be presented in early 2012.
Look for more information on this exciting new effort later this summer.
We know that giving $1,000 can be challenging for someone just beginning a career. That's why some of our youngest philanthropists choose YP20s. By giving $500 annually with a commitment to give $1,000 by age 30, you can be included in all YP activities and events.
We currently have 23 members in the YP20s program and are working to grow that number exponentially. Spread the word!
