Looking for big things from AAL in 2010
jil_littlejohn
It is my pleasure to serve as the 2010 Chair of the United Way African American Leadership (AAL) Council.  It's going to be a great year filled with opportunities for networking and fellowship, as well as the chance to work on some important initiatives to impact lives here in Greenville County.

As AAL begins its 11th year, we have grown to 188 members and just completed our most successful effort ever -- contributing $262,168 to United Way programs and partners through the annual campaign.

This growth places us in position to increase our impact in Greenville County. I encourage you to get involved with the leadership and volunteer opportunities we'll offer throughout the year.

We thank you for your generous gift to United Way to help improve lives and bring about deep, meaningful change in our community. By working together, we will create a better place for us all.

--Jil Littlejohn, Chair

AAL New Member Celebration 2010

United Way's African American Leadership held its annual New Member Celebration March 9 at the Commerce Club. Sixty-six members, including 22 new ones, attended the event, which is held each year to recognize the Palmetto Society group's new additions and to offer members a chance to meet and network with other United Way supporters.

It only takes a moment to make a difference
Speed Career Mentoring is a unique project between members of United Way's African American Leadership and high school students enrolled in Graduate Greenville's summer enrichment program. In quick, small group sessions, AAL members share their educational and professional experiences, offering the students a first-person example of what can be accomplished with hard work and ambition.

To volunteer to participate in this rewarding experience, contact Holly Manuel at 467-3551 or click here to e-mail.
