December 2009
Greetings!

Anna photo 2Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Annual Open House. We've truly enjoyed everybody's company on that  day and I'm proud to say that we've made several new friends. I'm very glad that we were able to introduce many of our guests to all new procedures and treatments done at the office.
The whole event was a huge success and we will repeat it every Holiday Season from now on. I hope the discounts we've offered will make it easier for our patients to get the procedure they want (and deserve) so they can greet the New Year (and a new decade!) looking and feeling great.
Thanks again, it was our pleasure

If you have questions, need more information on our procedures or would like to make an appointment, please email us at appointment@askDrAnna.com, give us a call or simply stop by.

Sincerely,

 Restore lost collagen with Sculptra
Now FDA approved for volume correction

Sculptra  is a volumizing filler which gradually replaces lost collagen. Collagen is a key structural component that keeps skin youthful looking and smooth. As you age, your body's collagen production decreases, and you may begin to see wrinkles. Sculptra works to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds, as it replaces lost collagen, which can help provide a refined, more youthful looking appearance.

Sculptra Before & After

Sculptra  replaces lost collagen in a series of treatments. On average, three injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection sessions and the number of injections per session vary from person to person.

Sculptra  is different because it gradually and subtly corrects  facial wrinkles. This provides a refined, more youthful looking appearance that can last up to two years.

Enlarged Pores
Is Depression a Prozac Deficiency?

What to do about Enlarged Pores?

I get asked this question ALL THE TIME. Pores are the size they are. You can't really technically reduce pore size, but you can reduce the appearance of the pore and prevent further stretching caused by accumulated matter that builds up.

The first step in visually "shrinking" the pores is keeping them clear of impacted oils and skin cells.... Retin-A type products are excellent.

 clogged pores

The cleansing with ClariSonic Brush also keeps pores clearer by effectively removing makeup and oils.

Fractional laser (MiXto)has the biggest visual impact and this comes from the new collagen production which occurs when the skin enters the healing process following the laser treatment. I don't like to tell people that their pores will actually shrink, but if the skin around the pores tightens up, the effect is the same.

Caucasians have the largest pores.
Asians are genetically rewarded with the smallest pores.

Is Depression a Prozac Deficiency?

What is Depression? It is a chemical imbalance due to toxic environment, nutrients depleted diet and unremitting stress.

depression

Depression is a symptom, but not a disease.

It is a symptom of deficiency of zinc, magnesium, vitamin D or omega-3 fatty acids. It can be caused by brain inflammation from gluten, delayed food allergies, infections, toxins, sugar loaded diet or molds. Depression can be related to hormonal imbalances, such as thyroid, adrenal, sex hormones and insulin. It can be caused by digestive dysfunction such as yeast infestation or by toxic injury from heavy metals, toxins released by parasites, molds and fungi.  And of course depression can be caused by stress, both acute and chronic due to PTSD, loss or trauma. All these factors increase levels of inflammatory substances in the body (called cytokines) which promote break down of tryptophan leading to less serotonin in the brain.

All the above can cause the SYMPTOM of depression. So in order to solve the problem of depression we have to match the treatment with the cause, but not with the symptom.

How depression should be approached?  1.By assessing the nutritional status: checking vitamins, minerals and antioxidants levels in a blood test called Spectracell, also checking for omega-3s deficiency as well as amino acids levels in  urine sample.
2.By performing evaluation of digestive disturbance which frequently have either no symptoms or very vague tell-tale signs, which is done by testing for delayed food allergies, including gluten, diary, wheat and yeast antibodies.
3.By testing for inflammation markers (CRP, homocysteine) and insulin levels.
4.By evaluating thyroid function, checking for adrenal fatigue and sex hormones deficiency. 5.By screening for heavy metals toxicity in a simple hair analysis, followed if needed by a more comprehensive testing.

 Summary:
depression is not a drug deficiency and it should be treated by identifying impediments to health then taking them away and subsequently providing ingredients for optimal function.
