SUPERFOODS:

BLUEBERRIES

Compounds in blueberries known as flavonoids, have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, giving them great potential to fight aging, Alzheimer's disease, and other chronic ailments.

Blueberries appear to protect cells from a wide range of injuries by exerting potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Blueberry-enriched diet protects against loss of brain cells seen with different types of brain injury and aging, as well as impairments in memory, learning, and coordination.

Blueberry supplementation is also associated with growth of new nerve cells, and with better communication between existing nerve cells.

Blueberries help to control certain types of memory and motor function.

Studies in humans suggest that diets high in fruit and vegetables-particularly those of dark color, such as blueberries-may protect against oxidative stress, Alzheimer's disease, and other chronic conditions.

Consumption of blueberries is highly recommended as a part of a healthy lifestyle program.

Introducing:

"Lipotron"  for Fat Reduction
   RF-Assisted Lipoplasty

What is it?  Radiofrequency (RF) energy for the treatment of cellulite, subcutaneous fat, and visceral fat. It's Non-Surgical, Non-invasive and painless. No needles!

How does it work?  RF currents recognize fatty tissue by its high water content. It makes it easy to selectively heat and release melted fats. It takes about 3 treatments to start seeing results (loss of inches, smoothing of the cellulite, tightening of the skin). Full course consists of 10 sessions, one week apart. Depending on a setting, it can also dissolve deep fat (up to 8 inches deep) around internal organs (called visceral fat). Melted fat is removed from the body by natural means few hours later and treated area feels like "jelly" for a day or two.

What can be treated?

 Cellulite anywhere on the body

 Weight Loss / Central Obesity

Body / Facial Contouring (double chin, eye pads, love handles, abdominal and body fat, bra bulges, groin pads, thighs, knee pads, arms)

Visceral Fat Reduction (melts fat around internal organs)

Skin Tightening / Stretch Marks Reduction

 Sports Injuries

Pain Management (fibromyalgia, chronic back pain)

When is it going to be available at BODY FOCUS?
Around March 15.

How much is it going to cost?  Price of one treatment will be equal to the price of two mesotherapy sessions.
Packages will be available: get 10 treatments for a price of 8 1/2.

The Truth
 About
Antiperspirants

The reduction of sweat is a complicated task. In each underarm there are 25,000 active sweat glands capable of producing large quantities of perspiration in response to heat and emotional stimuli. Antiperspirants work by creating long plugs within the sweat canals and obstructing sweat flow to the skin surface. Most antiperspirants function as well as deodorants by reducing the smell, however deodorants do not function as antiperspirants.

How to optimize use of antiperspirants?
By applying the product twice a day to a completely dry skin. The bedtime application is more important than the morning application because the body is at rest and sweating is reduced. This allows the active ingredients to remain in contact with the skin longer and create a stronger plug.
It helps to wear loose fitting clothes around the armpits and use only light razor pressure when shaving to avoid removing the plug.
It takes about 10 days for the plug to form and it is completely gone 14 days after the last application.

What if antiperspirants are not enough?
Consider Botox injections into underarms. They are extremely effective and inhibit sweat production almost completely for 10-12 months.
Procedure lasts about 20 min and is proceeded by a "sweat test" to determine the amount and exact location of the active glands.

How to Eat Out Right?
  1. Pass on the Potato and Pasta Sides - Most restaurants serve the main dish along with a potato, pasta or other starch, but that doesn't mean you have to accept it. Ask them to substitute vegetables instead, and you'll be doing your health and weight a big favor.
  2. Say No to the Sauce - Most sauces contain added fattening and unhealthy sugars that you don't need. This includes ketchup (sorry), barbecue sauce, sandwich spreads, fast food sauces, glazes and other condiments.
  3. Lose the Bread - No matter what the meal, you're better off without the bread. "Sandwiches" can be made from lean meats, chicken, cheese and vegetables and wrapped in a lettuce leaf or served in a bowl with a knife and fork. And watch out for "hidden" bread in breading, toppings, stuffing even soups and salads (think crackers and croutons).
  4. Choose the Least Offensive Cooking Method - When you look at a menu, you can automatically eliminate choices that contain the words "fried" and" crispy." These words mean that the food will cooked in unhealthy fats.
Look for steamed, poached, slow-cooked or other light cooking methods. You will also want to strive to consume at least one-third of your food raw, as this is the form that will give you the maximum amount of nutrients.
  5. Drink Water -  Even the most sincere efforts to eat healthy can be sabotaged if you drink a soda or another sugar-filled beverage along with your meal. Drinking pure water with your meal, as opposed to soda, fruit juice or coffee, is an easy way to stay hydrated and healthy.

Carb Cravings

One of the top issues we deal at BODY FOCUS- the causes and explanations for carbohydrate craving - is not a simple subject. In addition to imbalanced hormones, the following are factors which we have determined contribute to this cravings:

Neurotransmitters:

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that elevates mood when at normal levels and, at low levels, produces the symptom of carbohydrate craving to convey its need to raise its level through ingestion of sugar or other high-glycemic index foods. It's possible to test for levels of neurotransmitters.

Yeast:

Commonly called Candida Albicans, yeast grows in the abdominal cavity. Women who experience abnormally high yeast production frequently suffer from vaginal yeast infections, most commonly triggered by prescription antibiotics. Yeast overgrowth causes carbohydrate cravings because it favors high-yeast and high-sugar foods for continued growth.
(NOTE: The perfect food for yeast overgrowth is bread - with a glycemic index of 110, its index is even higher than the base 100- sugar.)
See our recommendatins for Yeast-Free Diet below.

Mercury:

Dental amalgams promote yeast overgrowth in the abdominal cavity. Cravings for carbohydrates typically disappear once hormone and neurotransmitter, as well as mercury and yeast, levels are addressed. Remember, Stevia (feaured in January's issue of newsletter) has no calories at all.

Yeast-Free Diet

Foods To Avoid While on Candida Detox Diet:

  • All sugars and sugar-contained food including table sugar, fructose, corn syrup, honey, molasses, maple sugar and date sugar.

  • All cheese except ricotta, cottage and cream cheese.
  • Artificially sweetened drinks and food products.

  • Obvious fungus foods: mushrooms, blue cheese, etc.
  • Peanuts and peanut products: peanut butters. Use almond butter.
  • All vinegar-soaked products or vinegar dressings: pickles, pickle relish etc. Lemon juice may be substituted from vinegar in recipes.
  • Brewers yeast B vitamins made from yeast, yeast breads, pastries, cracker and pretzels that contain yeast.
