Adoption Equals Success
By Currin Cooper, PMP - Senior Project Manager
In today's difficult economic times, everyone is looking to identify ways to cut costs and save money, so why would a company allocate dollars, people and resources to a project if nothing is going to change?
Change is not a one time event - if we are not changing, we are probably not moving forward.
There is no question that change is challenging, difficult to embrace and amounts to significant amounts of work, but it is also necessary and inevitable. To ensure that your intended change is a success, there must be agreement and consensus on the benefits and risks associated with changing.
The true measure of a project's success cannot be realized until after the project has ended and the change is operational and adopted, which may be days, weeks, months or even years.

Answer: Know the Lingo
Project assumptions are presuppositions that are documented as taken for granted and being part of a project. Through the investigative process, assumptions should either be re-confirmed or denied. Progressing through a project using false assumptions will lead to failure; revalidation of assumptions is a continual process throughout the project. Assumptions deal with resources, conditions, economic environments, levels of support and any factor that may dictate the success factor of project.
