Success and global inclusiveness require us to live, think, and act outside the comfort zone of our upbringing and conditioning.  Many of us forget that just the fact that we are Americans, or live in the United States, will color how people perceive us and how we perceive others.  Ms. Di Spigno will share how listening with an open mind and embracing the diversity of others' perceptions is critical to global inclusiveness and, more importantly, global understanding.  As Americans, we have to fight some of the stereotypes to take charge and take action and instead, adapt to the culture in which we are involved at the moment.

Many of us in the United States think about diversity and inclusion with a US perspective - focusing on the US definitions of race, gender, people with disabilities, sexual orientation, and age.  As population of potential employees becomes more global, we have an opportunity to globalize our focus on diversity and inclusion.  Today we think about incorporating global citizens into our existing work communities.  But, how are we preparing US work communities to accept and respect people from other cultures?  Ms. Stokes will discuss how as we recruit and integrate talent of the future, we must expand our view on how we align our work communities for success.

"Growing up Global: Raising Children to be at Home in the World"

What are the qualities required for success in a global, connected economy?  As professionals we often "silo" crucial aspects of our work: globalization impacts the bottom line, diversity impacts the workforce, and our families impact our day-to-day concerns.  If we could create inclusiveness instead of isolate these matters in silos, we might all be more effective at what we do.  Ms. Tavangar will discuss some of the ways the discussion at home, with our families, can help to enhance our effectiveness at work, and also talk about some of her findings in "Growing Up Global."  The qualities of a global citizen also are the qualities of today's successful professional.
