In Good Taste
Coastal Provisions Market eNewsletter

December 27 , 2009

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and wish everyone a happy and safe New Year.  As we are winding down 2009, a year that has been very difficult for many, we like to say thank you to all our supporters and take a moment to look back at 2009 and the things we have to be thankful for.

Probably the biggest news for us this past year was the opening of our third location, Coastal Cravings in Duck. While the original plan for Cravings didn't work out, we were fortunate to find a better location right next door and still have our friend Howard be part of it.

Our other big and most recent news has been the relicensing of the Market to that of a restaurant.  As we have had to evolve from being less of a grocery store, it seemed like this was the next step and will enable us to better satisfy what our guests want from us -the foods we prepare. So we launched dinner service in the Wine Shop Cafe a few weeks ago to great response.

We were ecstatic about the success of a couple big events we hosted this year. The Outer Banks Chowder Cookoff and Champagne Lounge in March, part of the OBX Restaurant Association's Taste of the Beach were two of the more popular events of the festival. And our First Annual Duck & Wine Festival at The Waterfront Shops was a huge success, benefiting the Currituck-Dare Community Foundation.

Our catering business has also continued to grow with over 80 weddings and other events this past year. And with the opening of Scott & Nina's Pelican's Landing event house, we expect an even bigger 2010!  We were very excited by being chosen as the Best Outer Banks Wedding Caterer by The Bride's Book  readers this year, and also pleased to have the Best Outer Banks Dish at this year's March of Dimes Chef's Auction (our second top honor in three years).

Awards and accolades are nice, but our most valued asset is that of people. From our own fantastic staff, to all of our guests, it is the relationships that have developed over the past few years that we hold most dear, that have given us a sense of place, of community, and of comfort.  Thank you all for your continued support and happy new year!
