May 2012 - Issue 5

Happy May!

You have to love spring in Fairfield County. There is a lot going on with EWN as we close out our 30th season.

To begin, our current President, Anne Wilkins has decided to step down from the Board so that she may focus on her health. As many of you know, Anne has had ongoing problems with her knee and hip. She labored over this for months, but has decided that it was best for the organization and her recovery to focus on getting better. Anne has brought a lot of organization and heart to EWN and we will deeply miss her. Here's to wishing her a speedy recovery and we hope to see her around town and at an EWN event soon!

As per the EWN by-laws, as President-elect, I have been voted in by the Board into the EWN President position, effective immediately. I am excited to lead this great organization into its 31st year.

I am also happy to announce that Barri Bialko has been unanimously approved by the Board to fill the Program Chair position for the remainder of this season. Barri has great experience, lots of enthusiasm and has already jumped right into the position. She will be a tremendous asset to our organization.

Onward to our 31st year!  We will be sending out the slate for the 2012-2013 season next month to all EWN members. We still have a few positions open and are actively searching for volunteers. To make this even more enticing, the Board recently approved some exciting incentives for future Board members.

Beginning with the next season, all new EWN Board members will receive a free one-year membership added to the end of your present membership term (valued at $100). Additionally, there will be no cost for attendance at EWN events for the season (valued at $300+).

We hope that these incentives will encourage you to consider lending your time and talents to help grow EWN. (See open Board positions below.)

If you would like to have more visibility for you and your business, be a part of the growth of the most established women's networking group in Fairfield County and have a lot of fun, then please give me a call (203) 210-7462 or email me at MindyKannon@yahoo.com and let's talk.

Don't forget to sign up for the Grand Networking Event on June 4th! We have a few sponsorship opportunities left, so contact me today if you're interested. This event is limited to 80 people, so register early!

Have a great month and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Join us as we say goodbye to the 2011-2012 EWN season at EWN's Grand Networking Event! Carol Ann Small, our featured guest speaker, will surely put a smile on everyone's face.

As a female entrepreneur, have you ever asked yourself that question? Working women know better than anyone there are only so many hours in the day. If you are brushing your teeth in the car, or eating breakfast at midnight, then you might be a tad bit overscheduled.

Come learn how to take your work seriously while taking yourself lightly. It's time for you to find a better work-life balance, de-stress and have more fun!

Carol Ann's best advice for the perpetually stressed? "Life is short. Buy the shoes."

Testimonial

From the moment I walked into my first EWN event, I was surrounded by women who not only inspired me but supported me in my baby gift business, Frittabello. Not only have I made wonderful friends, but I've received assistance in growing my product line, my social media presence, and of course, making sales! I continue to be a proud member of this great organization.
