FEBRUARY 2011

Amidst the Storms...Love, Wonder & Laughter

 Message from the President
Anne Wilkins

February is upon us.  The coldest, snowiest month of winter some say, a time when the holiday gatherings  have passed and Spring is still too far away.  What to do?  Well, there's Valentine's Day - a time to celebrate romantic love, but also the love we have for ourselves, our families, our friends and other special people in our lives.  Make sure to take time to remember and acknowledge those folks.  We'd like to send you a special Valentine's Day thank you for your support of EWN and the contributions each one of you makes to our special community.

This month here at EWN we also hope to make you wonder and laugh - weather permitting!

Our Morning Workshop this Friday, February 4 features Gilda Bonanno on the topic of "Bold Presentation Skills for Entrepreneurs".   I remember wondering more than ten years ago if I could ever summon the nerve to be a public speaker and deliver presentations confidently and with ease.   Hopefully, Gilda will make you wonder too so that you'll stretch yourselves in this regard, whatever your skill level right now.

Later in the month, Maria Miranda will delight us with a personal memoir of marketing tips her father imparted to her as a salesman for Frito Lay, in her presentation "All That and a Bag of Chips" on Thursday, February 24.  Having listened to just a few tidbits of Maria's many stories in arranging for her to speak to us, I know we can all benefit from the lessons imparted and her very funny and delightful presentation.    Please join us for some warmth, fellowship, and laughter.

Happy February!

Bold presentation skills are an essential competency for successful entrepreneurs. Developing a successful brand, marketing expertise and building a strong client base all depend on the ability to communicate in a confident, engaging and persuasive way.

In this interactive and engaging session, attendees will learn how to:

  • Develop and communicate self-confidence
  • Use powerful body language (voice, gestures, movement, and eye contact) to connect to their audience and convey meaning
  • Keep audience attention by relating relevant and engaging stories
  • Practice presentation in order to express a clear and concise message
  • Convey a level of knowledge and passion that results in a presentation that is distinct and memorable, for all the right reasons!

About Gilda Bonanno
