January 2011

This New Decade for You and Your Business

 Message from the President
Anne Wilkins

Every year at this time, my husband and I review our Bucket List, a ritual we treasure. Yes, it sounds corny, but we delightedly move accomplishments to the "Been There, Done That" list, toss out goals that just aren't as important or interesting anymore, and add new ones to the list. My spouse's list, as always, is ambitious. This year, learning Chinese and skydiving moved to the top. I tried not to laugh! But for me, my list is very focused for the first time in recent years. My number one professional goal, bar none, is to grow my customer base while improving my business profits. Forget about weight loss...at least for the first half of 2011!

What is your top professional goal for the first year of this new decade and how can EWN help?

If you're still mulling this over, please attend our January 19th luncheon with Jane Pollak, a fabulous speaker, past President of EWN, and successful entrepreneur, whose talk entitled "It's 2011: Do You Know Where Your Goals Are?" should get you moving!  Described to me recently as the "Oprah of EWN" - well, I'm sure you're curious now!

If it's a sense of community you crave or feedback on business ideas from one another in a more structured setting, we hope you'll attend our January 13th AfterHours/Mastermind Open House to sign up for a group and let us help connect you with other like-minded entrepreneurs.

And, as a last thought, I suggest that we all make a resolution to increase our skills at networking, something we know will help build our businesses. When you attend your next EWN event, just walk up to someone you don't know and introduce yourself. Doesn't that sound easier than learning Chinese?

Happy New Year, Happy New Decade and Happy Networking! As the new President of EWN, I look forward to working with you and our talented group of Board and Committee members to keep EWN growing and thriving. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have an idea or want to help out.

January 2011 Luncheon

"It's 2011:  Do You Know Where Your Goals Are?" with Jane Pollak

JanePollak

On Wednesday, January 19, 2011, Jane will talk to the EWN audience about goal setting.  Jane states, "This will be a great opportunity to begin the new year and learn how to assess what you really want in 2011, and get a jump start to achieving your goals." Jane Pollak is a living example of how being a member of the Entrepreneurial Woman's Network can turn a passion into a thriving business. In 1989 as a member of EWN, Jane started her career in the unlikely field of egg decoration. Now she is a successful entrepreneur, professional public speaker, author, and business coach.  Jane was also the EWN President in 1996-1997.

This Luncheon is sponsored by the 5Rhythms Dance/Movement Practice, which is a tool to help us navigate these times of constant change and bring our bodies, hearts and minds into alignment. Using music from around the world, we dance freestyle through five energies or beats:

  • Flowing, to experience being fluid and letting things in
  • Staccato, to focus our passion and clearly express ourselves
  • Chaos, to shed what is not needed
  • Lyrical, to traverse the earth with a lightness of spirit
  • Stillness, to move peacefully in the rhythms of our breath
Classes are held monthly in the Westport/Norwalk area and are open to everyone, regardless of age, size or physical ability - especially healing for those who like to show off or those who can barely show up, survivors of bad backs, bum knees or broken hearts.  Come move, groove and have fun! For more information, contact [email protected] 203-209-0047 or visit www.5Rhythms.com
