There now is the option for businesses from the Harbor and South Coast Highway to also participate. Help potential customers FIND you.  We are working to fill these positions, front and back sides, as soon as possible before the end of our summer season. Call Lisa at 805-6899.

The monthly MainStreet Morning Meeting is held on the first Tuesday of each month. We welcome all parties interested in the progress of Downtown Oceanside, including businesspeople, residents, and City staff. The Redevelopment Manager attends our meeting and presents a downtown update. A representative from OPD is generally present to report on downtown issues and accept input from meeting attendees. The meeting is held in an informal discussion format. Complimentary refreshments are served courtesy of Pier View Coffee and Quality Inn and Suites.

The next meeting is Tuesday August 5th at 8:30 am.

Star Theater Upcoming at the Star Theater

Gilbert and Sullivan's THE MIKADO

Gilbert and Sullivan's most often performed comic operetta THE MIKADO comes to life on the 450 seat historic Star Theatre stage as the closing show of the 2008 Summer Season of Musicals! The Mikado features the beautiful music and zany fun of The Pirates of Penzance - only this time set in Japan!

The Star Theatre Company (STC), under the direction of Artistic Director and Broadway veteran Michael Wallot, is proud to present THE MIKADO for the first time on our stage- with a cast of 25 and a live orchestra under the direction of Victoria Mora Collins. This classic show features opera singers David A. Blair and Dawn Veree Marshall as well as one of STC's favorite leading ladies Dianne Greiner (Dolly in our recent critically acclaimed production of Hello Dolly).

OPD Connection
            Business Crime Watch Logo

The monthly OPD Connection Meetings have been suspended until the end of September.

We're working with the police Crime Prevention unit to prepare a series of informative topics relative to businesses and how to prevent crime:

Why Join Business Crime Watch

Consider the following questions:

1. Do you and your business neighbors alert each other about crime patterns and suspicious activities?

2. Do you have a partnership between your business community and the police department?

3. Are you familiar with other public and private agencies that can be resources in helping to solve problems in your business community?

4. Taking a good look at your business, have you assessed the physical layout, employees, hiring practices, and overall security?

5. Do you regularly attend seminars on "hot topics" that pertain to business crime?

If you answered "no" to any of the questions, you owe it to yourself, your customers, and your community members to consider being part of the Business Crime Watch Program.

California Surf Museum

California Surf Museum to relocate

The much anticipated move to a larger setting for the California Surf Museum is winding its way through the City approval process. The future home at 312 Pier View Way (site of the former Playgirl Club) would provide up to 3 times the exhibit and operations space of their current location at Pier View Way and Coast Highway. With up to 20k visitors annually they anticipate adding an annual film fest after the move.  This item should go to Council by August with subsequent build-out of the facility later this year.
