The Standing Committee will announce the slate of nominees for the eighth bishop of the Diocese of Kentucky tomorrow (Sat., Jan. 23). The announcement will be made online and through a special issue of this newsletter.

Bishop again urges us to keep giving to Haitian relief, but to be wary givers
Referring to last Sunday's gospel reading about the wedding at Cana,
Bishop Ted Gulick gave two compelling reasons for Kentucky Episcopalians to contribute to Haitian relief efforts.
And now, he said, is the best time to donate (again and again lavishly). He warned donors, however, to choose established, well known relief agencies such as Episcopal Relief and Development or the American Red Cross, noting that he has been alerted to one Internet scam that has already been sent to bishops.

Practicing 'pastoral generosity' in the diocese Bishop Gulick issues statement
In response to recent questions from members of the diocese, Bishop Ted Gulick has issued a statement regarding his
interpretation of the 2009 General Convention's resolution (C056) on
"Liturgies for Blessings."
The resolution asks The Episcopal Church
leaders to gather and create "theological and liturgical resources" for
same-gender blessings for future consideration and, in the meantime, to allow bishops to permit their clergy "to
provide generous pastoral response" to gay and lesbian Episcopalians who wish to affirm their partnerships, especially those residing in
dioceses in which same-sex civil unions are legal.
Last fall Gulick met with the diocese's clergy to discuss how "pastoral
generosity" should be practiced in the diocese, and he has issued the statement online offering his
interpretation, which he has said is informed largely by
his conversation with the clergy. Read more

News from The Hill at All Saints' By Greg Premo, All Saints' executive director
Recent/impending births have All Saints' grand-staff wondering A few of us on the staff at All Saints', no longer in childbearing mode,
like to think that our love for our families and our examples of
integrity and joy in parenting (and, yes, maybe even some cajoling) are
promoting us to grand-parenthood. While we'd like to think that, we are
also wondering if something else is at play (perhaps it's the air we
breathe?) here in the hills of Leitchfield. ... Read more
Marmion H all renovation progresses As the picture reveals, Cralle Hall's "motel" rooms have a bright new face, and if you read on you'll see the continuing work on Marmion Hall, home to thousands of meals for campers and adults since 1955. Thanks to the dedication and ingenuity of All Saints' employees Tim Probus and Dolan Hunt, it is being rescued from the deterioration of aging and neglect. ... Read more
And bigger news in waiting Through the renovation work, a very unusual stone was found in a closet. The staff already has gathered folklore and rumors about its origins and how it came to be at All Saints'. They hope to report about the discovery in an upcoming issue.
