For the second consecutive year during National Safe Digging Month, Shell Pipeline Company will promote 811 on a racecar it sponsors. However, there a few major differences - the car is now the No. 22 Dodge Charger, the driver is now Kurt Busch, and instead of promoting 811 for one race during the month, Shell will promote it during all four April races in 2011.
This campaign will reach millions of fans who watch the races every week, and will also reach the public through other media
Kurt Busch will be featured in a radio media tour, sharing the 811 message with radio listeners across the country. He and his Penske teammates will remind people to call 811 through their Twitter accounts.
Additionally, Shell will run a promotion with Motor Racing Network, which airs the races on radio, to award gas cards to several lucky listeners, while reminding them to call 811 before digging.

New wireless network may overwhelm signals for GPS
By Joelle Tessler, Associated Press Posted April 7, 2011 at midnight. WASHINGTON -- A new, ultra-fast wireless Internet network is threatening to overpower GPS signals across the U.S. and interfere with everything from airplanes to police cars to consumer navigation devices.
The problem stems from a recent government decision to let a Virginia company called LightSquared build a nationwide broadband network using airwaves next to those used for GPS. Manufacturers of GPS equipment warn that strong signals from the planned network could jam existing navigation systems.
