Kevin Harvick wants you to call 811 before you dig. Ok, not to call him directly, but to dial those three little numbers 8-1-1. To that end, the #29 Shell-Pennzoil car driven by Kevin
Harvick, will feature a new logo on the deck lid at the
Charlotte Motor Speedway race on May 30th, which
will read, "811 Know what's below. Call before you
dig."
The car also had this logo on the deck lid at the last
race of the 2009 season at Homestead Motor
Speedway. The Richard Childress Racing teams are
working with Shell and Common Ground Alliance to
educate fans about the importance of calling 811
before doing any digging or excavation activity.
"Calling 811 is like having a spotter when you're
digging," said Richard Childress, President and CEO,
Richard Childress Racing.
"The spotter's job is to let the driver know whether or
not it is clear before he makes a move on the track,
helping him avoid a collision that would put everyone
in jeopardy. 811 helps keep neighborhoods safe by
ensuring people know what's below and that they're
clear to break ground."
Also in 2010, 3M will promote the 811 logo on the #16
3M/Greg Biffle race car at the Talladega
Superspeedway on April 25, and at the Charlotte Motor
Speedway on May 30th.
CGA member 3M, sponsor of the #16 3M Greg Biffle
race team, has arranged for the 811 logo to be
prominently placed in three areas of Biffle's car for the
April 25th race at Talladega Superspeedway in
Alabama. In addition, Greg Biffle has recorded a 60-
second radio public service announcement that will
be available to help with the promotion of 811 - Call
before you dig.
In addition to all of the above mentioned race info, is
our Joey Logano sponsorship.
Tennessee 811, along with 10 other states is once again sponsoring Joey Logano. Joey has recorded 30- second, 15-second, and 10-second Public Service Announcements for TV and radio. We are happy to provide these to our member utilities
to use - free of charge. We also have several print
ads and can adjust the size for you.
Just contact Kathy Quartermaine -kquarter @tennessee811.com You can hear Joey's 30-second PSA on NASCAR
Radio this spring and summer, which will be playing
on both Sirius and XM radio. So listen up & look for
promotion of 811 both nationwide and right here in
Tennessee!
Oh, and enjoy the races! |

We are happy to announce we have implemented the
new and improved version of map services, or
Member Service Area Mapping (MSAM).
This new product allows members to VIEW, EDIT and
submit their database changes through a web
browser.
It take the place of the old, phase 2, version that we
have been running for several years. The new phase
3 version, allows a member to not only view their own
database, but to make edits using a variety of tools,
submit those changes to the GIS / database dept at
Tennessee811, and then check the status of
that update as it progresses through the editing
phase at TOCS and is implemented into the
production database.
Members can then view the changes they submitted
the following day using the same web site. Any
adjustments can be made at that time and the
process is again, repeated.
For further information and tutorial, or to sign up,
please click the "more info" link listed, or call the GIS /
database dept at 615-367-1110 (x7113, x7120, or
x7126).
