AMY AND KATHY INTERVIEW CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR
My Hero International Film Festival

Kathy congratulates Director Jacob Seigal-Boettner and Directory of Photography Ian Wexler the 2010 recipients of the Dan Eldon Activist Award at My Hero International Film Festival on November 20th.

The brothers won for their short film "Pedal=Sight," which follows the life of a young Indian girl named Bharati, who is given a bicycle, allowing her to travel to school to seek an education and pursue her dreams.

The Dan Eldon Activist Award is presented to the short film that best addresses the theme of activism. "Pedal=Sight" highlights the work of a non-profit organization With My Own Wheels which works to provide bicycles to health workers, farmers, and students around the world in order enable them to pedal for the change they wish to see.

UPCOMING EVENT IN NYC

CAPP UPDATES
NYC CAPP Summit

This fall, Creative Visions' friends Kathy and Jeremy Treat hosted a lively gathering at their lovely West Village, NYC home for Creative Activist Partner Program (CAPP) members.  This "CAPP Summit," provided a unique opportunity for creative activists to share about their projects and goals, and exchange ideas and resources. CAPP projects represented at the summit included, This Woman's Work, An Inconvenient Youth, Neither Veil Nor the Four Walls and Ashaninka. Look out for exciting new developments from each of these creative activist projects and please visit their pages for more information about how you can get involved and support their work!
Also, keep watch out for Kathy Treat's riveting documentary, After The Fall:  HIV Grows Up, which offers an intimate portrait of a special group of teen and young adult long-term survivors of the pediatric HIV/AIDS epidemic that swept Romania in the late 80s and early 90s in Romania.

CURA Safari Nights

On November 6, artists, musicians, and other friends of Creative Visions joined Kathy and Amy for a night of quality entertainment at "Safari Nights," a fundraiser for Cura Orpahange.

As guests poured into the legendary Henson Recording Studios, they were greeted with a classic ambiance of an African safari and welcomed by smiling images of the children from Cura, the inspiration for the event.

The lovely and talented Lucy Woodward, one of the masterminds behind "Safari Nights", kicked off the night by sharing a glimpse of her personal experience at Cura. Woodward was accompanied by the musical stylings of Jameson, Joe Sumner, and Nikka Costa. Each artist put on a show on show as epic as the studio it was performed in. The night was an overwhelming success not only for the funds raised through everyone's incredible generosity - but because many expressed interest in getting more involved by visiting the orphanage.  Stay tuned - we are woking to make this a reality!

New CAPP Projects
We are very proud to welcome Visions of Hope, mim-delo Project, and Freedom from Fear projects to our CAPP Community.
Visions of Hope

Visions of Hope is a public arts initiative which will take place in Harper, Liberia from January through May 2011. Harper is located in the most isolated and underdeveloped region of Liberia, where every third or fourth building is a burnt out structure that looks exactly as it did when the fourteen-year civil war finally ended in 2003.
