February Greetings!
According to a growing tide of news reports, we Americans are changing our lives and becoming thrifty and we have a deepening commitment to all things green, eschewing plastic bags, buying organic foods, and recycling more than ever. We worry about our carbon footprints. We can help. We have an extensive offering of books on the environment, global warming, and Sustainable Living. As we rearranged our book sections during break (yes, we rearranged the entire book department, see the note below), we brought the books on these topics into closer proximity with each other. Now you can find books on gardening, alternative energy, field guides, natural history and more with a few easy steps.Want to browse at midnight? Our online bookstore is always open. Click on the Sustainable Living for books on these topics.Happy Black History Month. Happy Valentine's Day. Happy Winter is Half Over Day. I don't really know when that is. Someone clue me in please. See you soon! Suzy

Things Are Not As They Were --- Or Why Is That Bear in the Bathtub?
Actually, your question may be, why is there a bathtub in the Co-op? As I mentioned in my note above, during Break we moved virtually every single book in the General Books Department at least once, and sometimes two or three times until we got it "right." We think we've made it a little more interesting here, maybe more fun, and easier for you to find what you are looking for. You be the judge. Please visit us soon. We'll even tell you all about the bathtub! The bear too!

We like to highlight current books that might otherwise be overlooked, books that won't necessarily get reveiwed or noticed, but which are well written and intersting, books that will entertain you, that will make you think. Here are a few that we are highlighting now.
Dinner at Mr. Jefferson's: Three Men, Five great Wines, and the Evening that Changed America

by Anne Harrington, Professor and Chair of the History of Science Department at Harvard.Harrington shows us that "stories of mind-body medicine do not merely describe experience and behaviors...they also help creat behaviors and experiences." $25.95. Co-op price $22.05.
by Dorothy West. Perfect for Black History Month, this collection of newly discovered works by Dorothy West included her syndicated fiction for the Daily News and her work for the WPA.
