Greetings!
Mother's Day. Wedding season. In less than a month, parades
and picnics and, maybe an afternoon in the hammock. May is a
good month for books, as gifts, and for ourselves to enjoy.
Browse our shelves or browse our website. We are happy to
help you find the perfect book for any occasion.
And by the way, once again there are some extra goodies for
you at the bottom of this newsletter. Please take a look.
Happy May Days,
Suzy

Now You Can Attend THE Book Industry Event Of the Year!
Via Podcast
Every year the book industry gathers for Book Expo America
(BEA). Publishers display their books, take orders from
booksellers, buy and sell rights, and otherwise promote their
titles. Booksellers peruse all the new books, pick up too
many galleys for the health of even the youngest back, listen
to authors, attend educational sessions, tallk shop, and
conduct the annual meeting of the American Booksellers
Association. Authors give talks, meet with agents
(appointment only) and otherwise take in the sights. Lately,
more and more librarians have been attending.
It’s an exciting (though exhausting for this baby boomer) few
days. This year’s BEA will be held in Washington D.C. Now you
can attend too, beginning May 22 via podcast. This is a first. In
the past, there has been television and newspaper coverage,
but now you can listen to many of the talks yourself.
Featured authors include John Updike, Richard Ford, Marc
Brown and more (famous and not yet famous). If you like
books (of course you do) this will be fun.
