Greetings!

March means Spring Break, Women's History Month, usually one last BIG snowstorm, the sap is running in the the sugar maples, and of course, basketball. It also means the new spring books begin arriving here at the Co-op and a host of special literary events. Whether you go away for Break or stay home, you will want something to read. I'd like to suggest The Weather Makers by Tim Flannery. If we all read it, we just might save the earth for the next generations. Read the article below to learn more about this crucial book.

All the best,

Suzy

Can We Save Ourselves from Carbon Dioxide?
A Call to Action from Tim Flannery

In The Weather Makers: How Man Is Changing the Climate and What It Means for Life on Earth, Australian scientist Tim Flannery explains in carefully researched and clearly written chapters the imminent danger we face, and certainly our children face, from the build up of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. He assures us that we can take steps to alleviate at least the worst of the threat, but warns that we must act now or it will be too late. In addition to government actions, he offers a carbon checklist for each of us to use in our personal lives. This important book is an urgent call to action that we dare not ignore.

We are offering a multiple copy discount. Purchase your first copy at a 20% discount, and subsequent copies at a 25% discount.

Ross Miller on Philip Roth Plus Other Literary Happenings

Basketball is not the only story on campus this month. Neither is Spring Break. We have a host of author events to amuse, entertain, and mentally stimulate you. Ross Miller will speak on the American literary lion, Philip Roth; the Wallace Stevens Awards take place, featuring Gjertrud Schnackenberg; and John Crawford will be on campus to talk about the realities of service in Iraq.

UConn Journalism Professor Takes on Brimfield
An Inside Look at the Antique World

Bob Wyss of Journalism explores the premier antiques venue in his new book, due in May, Brimfield Rush: The Thrill of Collecting and the Hunt for the Big Score. Wyss, a seasoned journalist, (he was an award-winning writer and editor at the Providence Journal for 28 years) followed a Pennsylvania couple in their pursuit of a big find. Dreaming of an underappreciated work of American art that will bring them wealth, they return again and again to the sun drenched fields of the world famous Brimfield Antique and Collectibles Show that takes place three times a year a short drive over the Massachusetts border.

Preorder Brimfield Rush now.
