Ambitious marketing events often fail to come to
fruition simply because of the frantic pace that all
lawyers endure. Client demands overtake best
intentions and the year quickly comes to an end with
little achieved from the marketing plan.
Let me offer you an event that can be quickly
prepared and easily organized. Client ?Lunch &
Learn? sessions have a powerful impact with the
simplest of preparation. Invite your clients to attend
your office for a lunch followed by a punchy
presentation on a practical issue. Offering
preventative law subjects in order to reduce the
client?s legal costs appeals to the client, but in most
cases, generates more business for you!
The subject will be readily familiar to you and a 30
minute session can be prepared in short order. Your
group size will be small; therefore, a conversational
style presentation is effective. In fact, I would
discourage the use of PowerPoint as participants
tend to glaze over and tire of this all too often trite
format.
This exercise accomplishes the three major pillars for
effective marketing of professional services: (1) it
establishes an interpersonal relationship (2) it
demonstrates your competency and (3) it creates
top-of-mind awareness. Ensure you include your
other lawyers during the luncheon as this is a great
opportunity for cross marketing. There are few other
marketing activities that achieve so much with such
little effort.
