Absenteeism has always been a concern for an organization, and the cost to the economy is in the billions. There is also another concern for organizations and that is presenteeism. Presenteeism is a term used when employees are at work but are not productive due to a variety of factors, and again the cost to our economy is staggering.

You may have accurate statistics of your own firm?s absenteeism, but it is unlikely you have any notion of the cost of presenteeism. One way of combating this costly inhibitor to productivity is to consider your organizational setting and the ways in which you are addressing wellness, stress management and health promotion for your employees.

How do you measure employees on their own confidential Stress Profile? A consideration is offering your lawyers and key staff members a 20 minutes on- line test that generates a helpful report outlining degrees of psychological well-being, health habits, resilience, social connections, and coping styles of the particular employee. This can be followed by individual sessions that can help assimilate the information generated by the reports.

These tools can change habits and coping styles, and give your people the resilience to prevent presenteeism. Productivity gains on your largest expense item will translate into improved incomes and harmony within the workplace.
