December Contest

We have 2 books to give away during December! Remember, to enter our contest, you must reply to this email and answer the question. Please include your name and mailing address in case you're one of our winners. All names will be put into a bowl at the beginning of January and the correct number of winners will be drawn. Good luck!

1. After more than 20 years working in health care public relations, Tami Boehmer was thrust into the world as a patient. In February 2008, she was diagnosed with a metastatic breast cancer recurrence--months after celebrating her five-year, cancer-free anniversary. Unwilling to accept a grim prognosis, she decided to interview survivors nationwide who have lived far beyond what the medical establishment predicted. Tami compiled these amazing stories into her book, "From Incurable to Incredible: Cancer Survivors Who Beat the Odds." Tami has generously donated 5 copies of her book. If you would like to enter the contest, please reply to this email and describe how you've healed your body, mind and spirit.

2. For the women in the Boesky family, time was the enemy. In Amy's parent's house in Michigan, there were black-and-white photos of all of the dead aunts, grandmothers, and great-aunts who had passed away in their forties-all from cancer.  As Amy Boesky puts it in What We Have, "My family doesn't define 'ready' the way other people do....we always had to be ready. We were like evacuees, belongings squashed at our feet, waiting at an unknown border. There was no time to spare." Amy has generously donated 5 books to give away! Please reply to this email and describe a special thing you're doing for the holidays with your family.

Good luck!

Greetings!
I don't know about you, but for me, time is just flying by! It's seems like yesterday that we were celebrating the beginning of 2010 and now we're on the crest of 2011! I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving with family and friends and are looking forward to the holiday season.

At the beginning of November, I participated in the NBCC's Project LEAD course on Clinical Trials. As always, the NBCC did a fantastic job in educating all the advocates in the hows and whys of Clinical Trials. We started the meeting with the question, "Can you imagine a world without clinical trials?" Where would our medical advances come from? How would we figure out the "whys" of certain diseases in an effort to cure and/or prevent them? It started us thinking about our current health care system and why Clinical Trials are so important. And, hopefully this course will make me a better advocate to help my fellow breast cancer survivors.

Pink-Link continues to grow with over 4,200 members in all 50 states and internationally. This year has been a little trying financially and I'm hoping that you might be able to find a small donation to fund our community outreach program. Because we are a small nonprofit, your donation goes a long way in helping breast cancer survivors get the knowledge and emotional support they need for their journey.

I'll close this last newsletter of the year with a wish for you to have a very HEALTHY 2011. I appreciate you being a part of the Pink-Link community and helping to spread the word about our online services. If you'd like to see my holiday card, click here.

Healthy and happy,
