Expressions of Hope Calendar
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is now accepting artwork submissions for their 2010 Expressions of Hope wall calendar.

Cancer has a profound effect on all the lives it touches. We invite anyone who has been affected by cancer - patients, survivors, friends, family members, caregivers - to share their emotions through art and inspire hope in others.

All artwork must be submitted by July 31, 2009. To receive a pdf of the submission form, please send me an email at vtashman@pink-link.org. This is NOT a Pink-Link contest.

For questions regarding the contest, please call ASCO directly at 571-483-1375.
Greetings!

The response to our June contest for a pair of New Balance shoes was fantastic! The question was "What changes have you made in your lifestyle to include healthy eating and staying active." We received a wide variety of responses and I wanted to share some of them with you.

Most people have increased eating fruits and vegetables and some Pink-Linkers have even become vegetarian! They've decided to include organic foods in their diets and cut down on the red meat. Almost all respondents have started or increased their exercise routine including walking, cycling, stretching and strengthening. Two Pink-Linkers have signed up for the Hershey's Tour de Pink benefitting the Young Survivor's Coalition, a 200-mile, 3-day bicycle ride! And finally, a couple of members have bought the Wii Fit video series and are enjoying that!

I personally continue playing tennis and enjoy pilates. I also joined Weight Watchers and have lost 5lbs to date (I still have about 10 to go). I hope you're inspired by these Pink-Linkers and include healthy nutrition and staying active in your survivorship plan.

Have a wonderful month!

Sincerely,

Victoria Tashman

Participating in a Clinical Trial
by cancer.net
Deciding to participate in a clinical trial is a complex decision. For many people with cancer, a clinical trial may be the best treatment option available. Other people may want to help contribute to the development of better treatment options in the future.

Info to Know

I recently received the summer issue of CURE Magazine and I wanted to give you the links to a couple of articles I found interesting.

Many survivors going through treatment and beyond suffer from fatigue. Lena Huang wrote about "Fighting Fatigue" and incorporating exercise in your daily routine.

The annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology was held in Orlando from May 29 to June 2. The gathering attracted 30,000 cancer researchers, physicians, and representatives from pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to learn the latest in cancer care, treatment, and prevention.
