And Now I Have to Exercise...
Pink-Link's Physical Training expert, Sami Papacek-Reis, gives us many reasons to create and stick with an exercise strategy.
"For so many women that go through breast cancer, they are
both mentally and physically exhausted when they get through the course of
treatment. The endless doctor's appointments, side effects from chemo and
radiation, hormonal therapy and surgical recovery can leave even the most
energetic individual wiped out. And now we add exercise!?"

The Gap Study
African American women are more likely to die of breast cancer than
Caucasian women, even though fewer African American women are getting
breast cancer each year and screening use has improved. This difference
has gotten worse over the past 20 years. The Gap Study was designed to
gather the information needed to better understand the differences in
breast cancer treatment experiences between Black/African American
Women and White/European American Women. The researchers want to know
more about how into improve the survival rates of women with breast
cancer. Read more

Greetings!
This is my big birthday month and I can't believe it's already here! My entire family is flying in to help me celebrate. Even though I can't believe I'm 50 years old, I am so happy that I'm healthy and surviving post breast cancer. When I turned 40, my husband (who turned 40 as well) and I had a big party to celebrate. This year I'm happy celebrating with family and close friends at my home. Recently I started getting into Facebook. What a fantastic thing it is, connecting with long lost friends and keeping in touch with new ones. Join the Pink-Link cause on Facebook by clicking here. I was on Facebook one day and thought, "why not a survivor Facebook!" I'm pleased to announce the new Pink-Link Social Network. Here, you can post photos, videos, blog, join a group and keep up with your survivor friends! You can still contact survivors through our database, but now you can do more! Check it out at www.friends.pink-link.org. We're also on Twitter and you can follow Pink-Link happenings by following "Pink_Link_Vicki". Turn everyday into a celebration, whether you're in treatment or your treatment is completed. I hope you're feeling well and empowered in your survivorship!
Sincerely,
Victoria Tashman

|
Megan Dwyer, a triathlete from California, and Meredith Campbell, a
fundraiser from Brisbane, Australia, should never have met. But a 2002
sailing competition in Sydney, Australia, brought them together,
forming a friendship that resulted in a different kind of support for
breast cancer survivors.
