Greetings!

I'd like to announce that our partnership with FHI Heat (www.FHIHeat.com) has been renewed for another year! They raised $12,000 for Pink-Link with sales of their pink blow dryers and curling irons! Look for some fantastic updates to our website within the next 6 months! If you've completed treatment and have started to visit your hairdresser again, please mention our partnership with FHI Heat. For every pink blow dryer or pink curling iron sold, they donate $1 to Pink-Link! Also, thank you for the tremendous response to MAMM Magazine's call for interviews. Shana Aborn, Deputy Editor, was innundated with phone calls and wishes you a hearty "Thanks!"

I can't believe summer is finally upon us. With the kids out of school, the stress in my household is greatly reduced, which makes me feel great. This is my favorite time of year as we usually plan a trip somewhere.  This year, we're going to explore my husband's roots and visit Budapest. I've thought a lot about my own heritage, including the women in my family who've battled breast cancer. My grandmother passed away from the disease in 1978 and only now can I realize what she must have been feeling while going through her treatment. But, it's because of these women, like my grandmother, that I am here today. For without their trials, we wouldn't have the advancements in medicine that we have in 2008.

I hope you're feeling well and thanks for being a part of the Pink-Link community!

Ann Stephens knew that colon cancer ran in her family, but it was the diagnosis of colon cancer for her beloved cocker spaniel, Cashew, that made Stephens realize the importance of early detection. She was diagnosed with colorectal cancer after her first colonoscopy in 2005, which found 19 polyps - one of them malignant. Surgery and chemotherapy sent it into remission. But for the now 57-year-old resident of Issaquah, Wash., there was an unanswered question: Did she have a hereditary form of the disease, one caused by a mutation inherited from a parent at the moment of her conception?
