Pink-Link
Greetings!
Why is February our favorite month? Everything is
pink, of course! And, our website was launched
exactly one year ago! We've had an incredible year
and plan on an even better one to come. We hope
you're feeling well and staying cancer-free.

Making the Most of Dessert by Pink-Link Dietitian, Janice Baker
|
|
|
|
Most of us look forward to dessert, me included!
Desserts, being sweet, creamy, and delicious, are
some of our favorite comfort foods. Unfortunately,
desserts are usually high in calories and low in
nutrients. The trick is to save the rich desserts
for truly special occasions and to make other
desserts a nutritious part of your diet. Click
below to read about my tips to making the most of
dessert!

Four Lessons I Learned From Cancer
|
|
|
|
This journey with breast cancer has steadily led me
to trust myself because I have made conscious
choices from my heart, putting those choices to the
test every day. This trust has proven itself in my
health, energy and vibrancy. I am cancer-free and
know I will remain so! These are four lessons that I
learned from my breast cancer experience.

Conferences That We Are Attending
|
|
|
|
Pink-Link will be exhibiting at 2 conferences during
the month of February. Our first conference is
sponsored by the Young Survivors Coalition (part of
the LBBC). Held in Washington DC from Feb 23-25,
approximately 800 women diagnosed with breast cancer
under the age of 45 will be learning about various
issues pertaining to pre-menopausal breast cancer.
You can check out their website at
www.youngsurvivorsconference.org
The second conference we're attending is the
National Consortium of Breast Centers annual
symposium held in Las Vegas from Feb 25 through the
28th. This conference focuses on issues faced in
breast centers across the country.

Six L’s of Caring and Coping, 2nd in the Series
|
|
|
|
This is the 2nd article in a series of 6 written
by Dave Balch, founder of The Patient/Partner
Project. Dave was caregiver for his wife during her
successful nine-month battle with breast cancer; now
he is on a full-time, personal mission to help other
patients by helping their partners. This series of
articles outlines some of the tools and techniques
that helped them get through their ordeal together.
One of the most important things you can do to cope
with the stress of serious illness is to laugh. I’m
not saying that cancer is funny; it isn’t. You can,
however, find plenty of humor in some of the
situations that you find yourself in because of the
cancer. Focus your attention there, find something
to laugh about, and laugh your head off. Here are
some examples from our experience.
