The Rocky Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council is pleased to bring you this expanded Fall edition of InTouch. We are also pleased to bring you news of the National Minority Supplier Development Council's Annual Conference, which was held October 24-27, 2010, in Miami, Florida. With hundreds of corporations represented and on hand to work with Minority Business Enterprise, the 2010 Conference truly epitomized the best in getting connected with corporate CEOs, purchasing executives, minority entrepreneurs, government decision-makers, and many other national experts on minority supplier development. In addition, Stan Sena and Belinda Hooks took advantage of the abundant opportunities to connect with the Rocky Mountain MSDC's peers, both corporate and minority business entrepreneurs, during power breakfasts and luncheons, plenary sessions and workshops.

Message from Stan Sena, President & CEO
The Rocky Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council
Denver, Colorado - November 9, 2010
At left: Stan Sena greets participants as they arrive at the Business Opportunity Fair in Denver, Colorado.
Fall connections continue in abundance Fall graces us with its colorful splendor as we anticipate the first snowfall and the holiday season. As winter approaches and along with it, the busy holiday season, many of us are accustomed to cutting back on our work production. I don't find that to be the case with our corporate representatives and our MBE constituents. Perhaps this never-slow-down attitude is why we at the Council are able to report that 2010 has been a watershed year for our MBE constituents and our corporate members.
For example, new Council-certified MBEs are going strong, even as we approach the end of the year. Year to date, our MBE certifications are up 9 percent over 2010. This upsurge in MBE certifications will signal a similar increase in participation of our corporate members.
In fact, you may already have noticed (and we hope that you have attended) the numerous Access Opportunity events that represent real opportunity for business between and among our Corporate members and our MBE beneficiaries. Keep track of our online calendar at www.rmmsdc.org to make sure that you mark your calendars in plenty of time to register for our Access Opportunity event. There is still time to register for the Access Opportunity with Xcel Energy on November 15. Don't delay because we are nearing capacity registration. We will, however, welcome walk-ins. Also, in the first quarter of 2011, we have scheduled 5 Access Opportunity meetings, including an event with Shell.
In conjunction with our increasing promotion of Access Opportunity events, we sincerely appreciate the efforts of MillerCoors, Ball Corporation, Duran Oil, and the City and County of Denver for their strong commitment to recent Access Opportunity Events. These events were well attended, but we certainly could have accommodated more MBE participation. Such events are a definite value add presentation but you can only benefit from them by participating. Our corporate members always provide a wonderful continential breakfast, and the two hours go by briskly, with many a valuable connection made.
We should let you know that we will be scheduling our next Social Networking Event at Marlowe's to kick off 2011 in early January. These events continue to yield tangible results both for our corporate members and MBE constituents. Also, don't forget to register early for our annual Holiday Party (December 9), which will fete corporate members and MBEs only.
Our course, we're planning our three signature events in earnest now: The 2011 Business Opportunity Fair on April 19-20, 2011; the Annual Golf Tournament at Arrowhead on June 17, 2011, and the 2011 Growth Through Partnership Conference on September 15, 2011.
Finally, I would like to encourage you to keep apace with the Rocky Mountain MSDC as we increase the opportunities that we bring to you.
Stan Sena

First Bank Announces Colorado Gives Day
- Colorado Gives Day will begin at midnight on December 8, 2010 with a goal to raise more than one million dollars in one day for Colorado nonprofits.
- Individuals should go to www.cogivesday.org to learn more and to donate online on December 8. All donations will be made online.
- Individuals giving on December 8 can choose from a list of nearly 400 Colorado nonprofits. Their donation will be made to the specific organization of their choice, not a general fund.
- FirstBank is partnering with Community First Foundation to launch the inaugural Colorado Gives Day.
- Community First Foundation was founded in 1975 and exists to fund vital community initiatives, support nonprofit organizations, and assist individual donors with charitable giving.
- FirstBank has committed a $250,000 lead gift to the Colorado Gives Day Incentive Fund. This fund has grown to $310,000 and will be proportionately allocated based on amounts donated on Colorado Gives Day. In other words, if a non profit receives 1% of the total amount given on December 8, they will receive 1% of the incentive fund, increasing the value of each gift.
- In addition, FirstBank has committed $50,000 to pay credit card and processing fees associated with donations made on Colorado Gives Day to make sure that nonprofits get every penny donated.
- Our partnership with Community First Foundation and our contribution to Colorado Gives Day is intended to enhance, not replace, our commitment to Colorado communities.
