Dear Resurrection Family and Friends,
As we head into the New Year I am encouraged by what I perceive the Lord is doing in our midst. In response to both the spiritual and numerical growth that is occurring, we are continuing to plan ahead and seek to "grow well" as the Lord leads. Please join me in praying daily for the church and for God's will to be done as we seek to "know Christ and make Him known" individually and together.
I want to highlight a few opportunities that we are working on now.
First, we will be working on developing an All-Parish - Photo Directory. Stay tuned for more information on picture days, updating contact information, and opportunities to help.
Community Groups will launch the week of February 12. We hope that every member and regular attendee will sign up to join a Community Group that will meet 8 times, bi-weekly, between February 12 and May 22 on different nights of the week. More info to come.
We will host a Ministry Fair on Sunday February 5th. We are encouraging current members to begin to choose one or two ministries to focus on while seeking to grow our Sunday service leadership participation by 50%. If you are not currently serving in some way at least monthly on a Sunday morning, I want to encourage you to attend the ministry fair.
Finally, we will be holding a very important All Parish Meeting for members and regular attendees from 11:45am - 12:30pm on Sunday, January 29th. We will discuss our master plan process, a 2nd morning worship service, and future staffing needs. Childcare will be available.
Check out our website (ww.resbalt.org) or call the office (410) 560 - 0456 for up to date information.
I am greatly looking forward to all that the Lord has for us in the year ahead.
Yours in Christ, ~ David

This Sunday's Scripture Readings:
Preaching Text: Acts 13:38-52
38 "Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses. 40 Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you:
41 "'Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.'"
42 As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath.43 When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.
44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. 45 When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and talked abusively against what Paul was saying.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us:
"'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'"
48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.
49 The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. 50 But the Jews incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51 So they shook the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
Other Readings: Psalm 89:1-8
Old Testament: Isaiah 42:5-9
Gospel: Luke 6:22-23

5 This is what God the LORD says- he who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it,
who gives breath to its people,
and life to those who walk on it:
6 "I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you
to be a covenant for the people
and a light for the Gentiles,
7 to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison
and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
Isaiah 42:5-7
