40 Days Of Teshuvah To Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur

Create In Me A Clean Heart Oh Adonai and Renew a Right Spirit Within Me
Psalm 51

New Moon Sighted in Jersualem Sunday Evening, 20th 2009 - Month of Tishrei is here, Shana Tova!

Day  36

10 DAYS OF AWE

Al Chet Prayer

The Goal Of Al Chet Is To Get To The Root Of The Problem.  To become more like Yeshua and to become conformed to His Image and Torah is a process, it does not happen over night.  The key is never to give up, because He does not give up on us.  We are all under construction and a work in process and this is the time to do spiritual house cleaning.

We are now in the 10 days of awe, a time to measure our spiritual growth and make amends where needed prior to Yom Kippur.

My Spiritual Annual Review Days Of Awe Day 6:
Scriptures;

As you spent time in the Word what have you learned this past year?

Have you fallen short of your goals to study His Word?

How can you improve your understanding of scriptures in the coming year?

10 Days of Awe

Stubburn child #36. For the sin we have sinned before You through light-headedness; and for the Sin we have sinned before You with obstinacy

Light-headeness- Do we take our Spiritual walk lightly?   Do we respect the House of God and arrive on time and spiritually prepared to worship and pray and to receive His Word?

Lightheaded
LI'GHTHEADED,
1. Thoughtless; heedless; weak; volatile; unsteady.
2. Disordered in the head; dizzy; delirious.

Obstinacy:
1. Stubborn; pertinaciously adhering to an opinion or purpose; fixed firmly in resolution; not yielding to reason, arguments or other means.

Again, this is another symptom of Pride.  An obstinate person will not receive correction and always has to have the last word when they are being corrected.  They can not be reasoned with and always have to be right instead of admitting that they might possibly be wrong.

This is what angered God when dealing with Israel, and things have not changed much.

Psa 78:8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God. (you really need to read all of Psalm 78)

Obstinancy is a form of rebellion as well.  We need to get this spirit of rebellion out of us now if we want to move forward with God.

A stubburn rebellious person is unteachable.

Jerimiah 5:23 But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
Jerimiah 5:24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

Obstinancy, Rebellion and Stubburness are a heart issue.  A heart that is not right with God.   We need to ask God to remove the heart of stone and stubburness within us so we can receive from Him.

36a. For the mistakes we committed before You through light-headedness. Sometimes we can forget that life is serious. We're born, and we die. What have we made of our lives? Have we been focused on meaningful goals, or are we steeped in trivial pursuits?

Ask yourself:

Do I spend time reading unimportant sections of the newspaper, or listening to frivolity on the radio?

Do I spend time with friends and colleagues discussing inconsequential details of sports and entertainment?

Do I act with proper reverence when I'm in a synagogue or learning Torah?

Do I speak about Biblical personalities and our Jewish Sages with the proper respect?

36b. For the mistakes we committed before You by being stiff-necked.
In the Torah, God refers to the Jewish people as "stiff-necked." This is a positive attribute in the sense that we are not easily swayed by fad and fashion. Yet on the negative side, we can also be unreasonably stubborn.

Ask yourself:

When I'm involved in a disagreement, am I frequently anxious and upset, rather than calm and rational?

Do I think that I'm always right? Do I usually let the other person speak first, or do I always want to speak first?
Do I listen attentively to the other side?

Have I been single-minded and lost my objectivity just because I really wanted something?
