Bike Connection Engineer Chosen

In conjunction with the City of Pawtucket, we are happy to announce that an engineer has been chosen to complete the design for the Blackstone River Bike Connection.  With 34 years of experience, the McMahon Associates specialize exclusively in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and design.  They were selected based on their technical competence and experience with the design of similar projects. We are excited to begin working with them as this project moves forward.  (Read More)

Three MicroEnterprise Grants Awarded 
On Friday, October 29, 2010 the Broad Street Regeneration Initiative in partnership with the Cumberland Planning Department awarded three MicroEnterprise Grants: one totaling $9,500 to Garcia's Insurance, one totaling $7,000 to EZ Computer and one totaling $3,000 to Envi-Mex. The business owners all proved they ran sustainable businesses, needed the funds and were cooperative and timely with the grant committee's requests. Congratulations to all three recipients! The Polar Express petrain
The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council's annual Polar Express train ride has received unprecedented attention this year. The 90 minute train ride departs from the Ann and Hope building on Broad Street in Cumberland and  features a reading of the Polar Express book, hot chocolate and cookies, a special Christmas gift, coloring books and crayons for the kids and a holiday sing-a-long. An extra weekend of train rides has been opened on December 12 and 19 at 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. both days, leaving from Woonsocket. Tickets can be purchased at tourblackstone.com.
Don't forget, there's lots to do on Broad Street... we encourage you to stop by! Be sure to check out the Broad Street Shops for your retail needs or take your family out for a great meal at one of the many excellent restaurants located in the corridor.
